hi, i'm new of FH community. when i heard about this mod, i suddently been interested because i think that BF2 with some right mods would be one of the best game of ever. so... i've an idea about the vehicle spawn: it would be a nice idea to have a limited number of vehicles, because i think that vehicle must be a "special" weapon (a vehicle is always "stronger" than infantry), not a massive using killing machine. so destroying a vehicle will be more important and will give more satisfation (instead in BF2 when u destroy e vehicle, u know that it will return 30 secs), they will be used in smarter ways, and repairing them will be really more important (in BF2 retreating to repair a vehicle is useless... it's better destroying it and retake it fully repaired and resupplied). so the vehicles will not be dropped automatically at base, but i think that is a job for the commander to decide which vehicle to "drop" (or better... spawn). then i think that dropping vehicle must be limited in flag points with a particular building (an armory?) and limited by a timer (depending on number of players in game: faster if there are more players) to avoid initial massive vehicle attack. with this vehicle number limitation, infantry would be more important, avoiding match with only vehicle combat as i see in BF2 in some maps, and defence would gain some importance. just think of some uf these situations: "Great job fighters! This was the last enemy bomber. we finally have air domination!". Scout: "The enemy is preparing a big offence on east: ten tank with APCs and infantry support. Prepare defences and a counter offence". Squad leader (who can required a vehicle): "Commander! we need vehicle support immediately!" - "roger that. dropping a tank at nearest base".

what u think about?

ps: sorry for my "bad" english. it's just a school english :D

Welcome to the forums! :) I think your idea is good, it will implement gameplay and surely my favourite action (repairing tanks) but only few are going to like it IMO...

Welcome aboard mate. You're English is fine.

Various suggestions like this have been made before. Personally I agree that vehicles shouldn't just respawn after 30 seconds (with full health and ammo). A you said this makes losing a vehicle a lot less of a disaster, sometimes it's even "good" to lose that crippled, nearly running out of ammo vehicle. Not very realistic ofcourse. Better simulation of reinforcements is a must. If vehicles would not respawn but *new* ones would arrive over time (reinforcements reaching the frontline) it would be a lot more realistic. A team that has only a few loses gets stronger while a team that wastes vehicles will have to wait for reinforcements to be able to do an other vehicle (tank) attack. This woul * reward* being carefull with vehicles.

The downside: idiots that play so badly they waste a tank ("lololol tiger is cool, vroom vrooom... look there an other tank, hahaha BOOM fuck I'm dead that's stupid!!1111" kiddies you will see on servers) or even just wreck them on purpose ("lololol lets drive this panzer over that cliff, I'm bored / an enemy spy " ).

This would mean that there always would have to spawn atleast a few vehicles (all in bases, tanks spawning in a capturable frontline flag is just silly and unrealistic as hell!!!) no matter what so teams aren't royally screwed if they have idiots or a lot of new people on their team. This could mean either a combination of Battlefield vanilla style respawn timers on a few vehicles together with reinforcements (single spawn vehicle, would be cool if a bot would even drive them from the map edge to the mainbase so you see reinforcements arriving) arriving in waves -after X waves they would stop comming- OR reinforcements arriving but all the single spawn vehicles would keep on comming, the waves of reinforcements would keep on comming.

The first method probably would be the best. It would ensure a base supply of vehicles (the bare minimum needed) and have all other vehicles arrive in waves. Depending on historicaly data these waves of reinfocrments would stop comming after a while (assuming reiforcements in the real battle didn't came in endlessly either, unless their was an "endless" line of reinforcements in the real battle aswell ofcourse).

that's a really nice idea! so the main tank force will come as a limited reinforcements, while the few respawn vehicles (the weakers?) will limit kiddies' "damages" :naughty:

Limited number of spawns for a vehicle has been doable since BF1942, and it still is possible in BF2.

I agree that a limited number of spawns would be nice and I'd like to see them implemented even though idiots exist no matter what we do. I still think it'll teach people to think before they go on a rampage with a tank and after some time, people will adjust they playing style.

True, for that reason I would try to have as much reinforcements as possible and as few endlessly respawning vehicles as needed (which probably are the weakest / most common vehicles to begin with). It wouldstill force people not to waste vehicles, most people probably would understand this and adept accordingly. A few regular spawns just as a safety net incases one or more idiots show up will be needed. Hopefully we could need less and less of this idiot prove systems over time (and improve realism) as natural selection scares of the people who think FH2 will be BF2 arcade gameplay in a WW2 jacket.

*prays*

This is all up to the devs, but I'm going to be a mean little bastard and complain about all arcady features shipping in the (internal betatest) betas not to make the game to idiot friendly. Atleast when my own Arnhem map gets done in the year 3501 I will try to get rid of as much arcade features as possible (so that means almost, maybe all vehicles will arive as reinforcement. A destroyed tiger won't magically respawn, capture zones shaped customly -covering a whole house for example, ditching the flags- etc.). Might mean that in sever with arcady people the map would suck horribly but it would also mean it would play extremly well in a server with serious and dedicated FH players. I already forsee feedback suggestion to add more safety nets for idiots though.. :( :p

So true... sad to admit it, but FH still feels like a true arcade shooter with some minor realistic things... That's just my opinion. Devs are too noobfriendly !!! :)

I dunno..after all, it's a game. I still prefer the concept of "historical accuracy mod, with as many realism elements as possible to keep it fun."

If an idiot gets in the Tiger, well, an idiot gets in the Tiger. It's only on maps like Ramelle-Neuville where it's tragic, when a team loses exclusively because of 3 raping, score-whoring morons. Otherwise, you know what, it's supposed to be fun, and it's a game for everyone. You want pro-grade play? Join a league. If not I suggest finding a server that is well-adminned (to weed out the cretins who do stuff like beach carriers) and relax; if you can't have your tiger, do something else.

So what your saying is your going to un-ballence the map because some smaktard is wasting team assets. Yeah,,,sounds fun,,,,,:( having someone digg an insurmountable hole that the rest of the team CANT climb out of. Might as well just give every player ONE life if you want realism.

i suggested a limited number of vehicles not for realism, but to improve gameplay.... never mind if vehicles spawn at base or are dropped by air because it's a game :)
