Okay, this has annoyed me for long time in Battlefield games.

Have you ever thought about "what the **** is this all about" when you try to get high to the sky with your stuka, and it falls down after small pursuit.

Lets think, stuka was maybe not fastest aircraft at those times, but man. I think the engine of it got a lot of horsepowers. So it climbed high to the sky easily, but maybe not so fast.

In Battlefield, it is all about speed. You see, my tank is slow, okay now i cant get over small ridge. But hey, my jeep is fast, surprise it runs like dream and im over the ridge at no time. In real life situation would be just other way, tank has the power to make it, and jeep doesnt.

What we need is torque. I would really like to get fast to that small ridge with my slow tank, and high to the sky to divebomb with my stuka. It is so ridiculous to Dice to leave this out of the game.

I dont know is it possible to do with BF2 engine, but if someone can do it, it would be fantastic! I know it would take alot of time and cause headache. And I am pretty sure that FH2 dev team aint ever going to do it. But hey, it isnt end of the world if there is no sutch a ting called torque in FH2 after all.

Keep up the good work!

I would love some vehicles with more torque, but Tanks are very slow vehicles. Even in modern combat tanks don't go very fast, so I think the tanks should go naturally slow. There are diffrent kind of airplanes though, the smaller fighters that were usually used for dog fighting should be fast, the bigger planes that was used for bombing should be slow though aswell as any airborne planes for parachuters. Though I am pretty sure FH already has the correct realistic speeds set.

To clear out main text.

I forgot to mention that I dont want that vehicles speed should be increased, but there should be sutch thing called torque. So even those vehicles what doesnt go fast has power to get up obstacles. Even it would be slow.

Uhh, every tank varies, some go 52, 40, 30. WWII tanks do about the same as modern day tanks as well, nothing new.

I don't know about you guys with this don't and do vehicle increase but I want armored vehicles to have realistic speeds, damages and armor translated inside the gaming format.

Okay, I read the replies and it seems like the people here are a little slow. Nothing personal. :)

Anyway, I am pretty much positive that torque has been added to BF2. I remember seeing in a few patches when DICE would point out: "APC climbing speed(torque) increased" So it is in the game, it's just not done right. For some reason, fast vehicles still have the advantage of climbing uphill.

So to conclude this - it's possible and it's already in the engine.

Ive never driven a jeep that could not climb hills. Stuka's are not rockets. They also would have a few bombs racked. So it's perfectly reasonable to expect them to lose air speed if you try to climb too fast and then, stall out and fall to the earth until you get enough speed to level out.

Stylie, I have a jeep, like a real jeep, and I just burned out my differential because it couldn't frickin' climb a hill.

Plus, torque is not the same as climbing speed of aircraft. I am all for being able to have slow vehicles (tanks) climb everything in sight, and letting fast vehicles do some approximation of downshifting to get over hills. The way jeeps just sort of stall on hills sometimes is kinda silly.

Not even just with driving. I think a soldier should be able to climb almost anything that isn't straight up. Maybe if it's muddy there would be an exception, but i dont think that the engine can compensate different types of terrain.

i agree about the horsepower.. i think that would give the vehicles a more realistic feel..

i would like to see a speed setting on tanks.. because i found it troublesome to try and maintain a lower speed (not go at full speed) while aiming rounds into a target. the only way i could get a lower speed would be by letting off the accelerator button every once and a while.. (thus creating jerky movements)

maybe fh could code tank acceleration to work like this: * when you push down on the acceleration (up arrow key) the tank makes its way up to full speed after a few seconds. if you let go of the acceleration key the tank DOES NOT slow down to a halt. it keeps going - like cruise control. if you let off the acceleration key before the tank arrives at full speed, it maintains the speed that the tank was traversing at while you let off the accelerator. so if you held the accelerato r for a second and let go, the tank would travel at a slow speed, if you held the accelerator until the tank reached full speed and let go, it would continue to cruise at full speed.

*the only way to slow down would be to press the reverse button until the tank stops, and eventually reverses. this could also help in simulating the mass of the tank.

i hope that makes sense, this is a feature i would really like to see in FH.

this would also make coordinating tank/infantry movements together more easily. (the tank could move at a running pace, so infantry could use it for cover)
