I used the search function and didn't find anything about it... so I'll suggest it. If it already has been suggested, I'd be happy about a link! ;)

So my idea is:

There is one thing I always miss while playing vBF2 or any Mod. Squad leaders can't communicate to each other over VoIP. So my suggestion is to make a separate Channel for Squad leaders.

What it would improve:

First I have to clarify, what a commander is supposed to do in my pov. He has to organize intel, and give orders to the Squad leaders, to make the intel usable for the own team. But like we all know squads are not always full and it is hard to tell a 2 man squad, to take a whole flag. But what if the commander tells Squad A (2 men in it) and Squad B (3 men in it) to go to a flag and take it. If there would be a way for the squad leaders to communicate over VoIP (we all know, that it is hard to use the chat while in battle^^) they could coordinate their actions better.

In short words:

Make something similar to the VoIP between the commander and the squadleaders also for squad leader to squad leader. Hope it is possible.

It'd be nice but I'm not sure you could code it to work like that.

I would love to see a lot of the text on the screen gone.

hmm

But the commander can speak to a specific number of squads (fireteams) by just saying:"squad1 and squad2, go and take flag x.". And the other squadleaders hear that.

Is about the commanders' skills ;)

I'm not a programmer, but how might voip between squadleaders be possible? I mean there're 9 different squads possible now. So you press that specific key and talk to all of them?

If it's about talking to just one squad, that might be working via a commo rose. But I don't know that exactly. (Or with a key per squad to push) But all of this can produce a lot of voip-spam.

Now it's like:"commander plz tell squad2 to go to flag x!" But that can or better should be decided by the commander.

hmm

the bf2 command rose and such is fubar, they did a bit better in bf2142 but not by much. so basically, you just have to designate squad names and us teamspeak. if it could work though that would be great

The idea is, that the commander tells squad 1 and squad 2 to go to flag x - so far so good - and then it would be great, if the squads would be able to talk to each others, to coordinate their attack. If the commander tells two squads to do one thing, he tells them to temporarily work as one team, right? It is hard to work as one team, if you can't communicate, rght? And I am talking about public play here. On clan matches and stuff like that you wont have that problem, because everyone will be in a TS.

A comrose is a good idea! Would that be possible?

I used to be in a clan long ago in the vanilla days. I had a few buddies that were in it but we like to talk shit about other members. The clan used Ventrillo and me and my buddies used TS. Both had seperate keys to activate, we just simply ran both at the same time.

Right. I know what you're aiming at. But the possibility of too much voip-spam is pretty high. That's why i don't know if I'm pro or contra that idea. Since we're just talking about public playing.

True... would need some testing. But I think it would be worth trying.

i personally dont like voip... use vent or ts instead. with voip any random noob can saunter into your squad and start shouting in your ear. most bf2 games i end up blocking my whole squad from voip, unless they have a valid point to make.
