Which internet should i get? (currently have dial up 56k) broadband, cable or dsl? are they different? i would like the one best for gaming.

Broadband isn't a kind of connection, it's a broad therm for high-speed connections. It really varies depending on the provider. You can get some answers at www.broadbandreports.com .

I dont think there is a clean definision to what "broadband" is. In general all types of connection with speeds topping 128kbs are infact broadband connections. An adsl line is sufficient for most internet uses, besides heavy uploading. DSL is the current cheapest "broadband" technology..

I have ADSL and it works out fine. I cap downloads at about 200 and upload at about 40.

I'm also stuck with 56k, and my only options are Satillite or Dsl. Which one?

I don't know what kind, I live way out in the country, but I heard that you can get dsl of the phone lines. Is that true?

Well if you want something faster then DSL or Cable then you can get T1 or T3 internet if you can afford it. If you really want the fastest internet around you can get optical fibre internet which little to no one can afford.

It depends on where you live but yes it does come through phone lines that is if the provider can get you service in your area.
