I have played a lot of FH 42', love the game and have been waiting desperately almost for a year now for BF2's FH, I'm very new here at the forums but well, here goes my suggestion...
I think it would be awesome to add widescreen support to FH because it's stupid to think of it as a dissadvantage, if you think it is, think about it this way...
We should limit RAM speeds and RAM capacities ingame because it creates dissadvantage...
We should limit certain graphics and resolutions because it creates a dissadvantage...
We should certainly get rid of surround sound because it creates a dissadvantage...
We should limit processing power on CPU's and GPU's because it creates a dissadvantage...
it's just a matter of having the tech and being able to use it nobody would like to have 2gb of ram and running the game not at it's full potential because it only supports 512mb of ram...
That is all! thanks and thanks for bringing such kickass mods FH team... you rock
I thought this was hardcoded for Bf2? :uhm:
the people at DICE said it created a dissadvantage which is totaly bull**** I get more of a dissadvantage playing with surround sound playing with someone with just stereo...
I think the guys at DICE didn't had time to include it and came up with this excuse instead. However, this means that you won't ever achive real widescreen rendering with Bf2's engine, because there's no code that'd be responsible for rendering things in a different than 4:3 aspect ratio. This leaves widescreen owners with partial solution of rendering a 4:3 resolution higher than a certain monitor allows, and then cutting off the top and the bottom, to fit it into the 16:10 or 16:9 aspect. FH2 has the second solution implemented as an option. As for sorround sound, I'd say the visible Creative logo in the sound settings menu suggest that money has let this imbalance pass through.;)
well I do have surround sound and I have my pc rigged up so I'm not actually telling FH team to plz remove that because it would suck I even miss it in FH 42...
The thing is that something as simple as rendering in a specific Window Size shouldn't be such hard work... I've done some basic opengl programming myself and it sure isnt hard to pull that off... Am not as sure as programming it in the bf2 engine because I havn't touched it... It was just my opinion and it's something that would be really cool if they fixed for the mod... It would be like "in your face DICE!" kinda stuff...
And once again I don't think it's they didn't have the time to finish it or whatever because how many patches have come out and still no support?... I really believe they thought of it as a dissadvantage...
I was only joking about the sorround sound part, as your point is very true. Player that pays more for hardware will always get certain advantage in recreation of game's world. Nobody can programme the different aspect ratios rendering options for Bf2 because DICE didn't made its source code available as it's a fairly new and still selling game. Hence there's no way you can access the rendering engine and change anything like that. As for the continuous lack of support, I don't know, for me it was a silly excuse.
okay I just posted on my other awaited BF mod forum... The guys from First Strike and they replied...
FSDev| HaVoC373First Strike Team Member:dont worry its in.no loose wire jokesmaybe you should contact those guys and see how they pulled that off! forgotten hope 2 + widescreen support would rock so much
And then all the guys with widescreen will see me trying to sneak up on them *sigh*
Yes dice sucks. No widescreen support is possible for the BF2 engine I guess.
