You can number the lines of a long document to keep everyone on the same page during a presentation or to keep track of your own long dissertation. Just follow these directions.
Note: This tip is for Word 2002. For other versions of Word the steps will vary slightly.
Switch to Print Layout View in your View menu. Click File, then Page Setup, then click the Layout tab. Click the Line Numbers button at the bottom of the layout window. Check Add Line Numbers, then choose if you want every line numbered, or set it to count by a certain number. For instance, if you choose to count by five, every fifth line will be numbered. Be sure to select continuous numbering if you want the numbers to continue from page to page.
