The current aerial map Bombing of the Reich map is not a good aerial combat map. We need an historical event aerial combat map. On August 1, 1943, United States B 24 bombers severely damaged Germany's last supply of oil in Europe by attacking the oil fields in Ploiesti, Romania. The Allies suffered heavy casualties with the B 24s during the attack. It was not until the following year that the Allies completely destroyed these oil fields Another fun aerial map would be a realistic Allied raid of the Axis factories that produced ball bearings in Schweinfurt. The Americans used massive B17 formation. On October 14 1943- 291 B-17's went out and 60 were destroyed. Both maps would be objective base using the correct aircraft of that battle.

I'm not really into planes and flying, because I'm a pretty bad pilot. I'd however like to see an aerial combat map that doesnt just have two runways on either side of the map launching blanes over some water, dont get me wrong Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich are fun maps at times but I really want to see some quality, and original flying maps.

I think all the mod needs is one last DAYTIME aerial combat map. I'm sick of the darkness of BtR. I love BoB, and think we need anoher one of those.

Well, for example there was a major battle during the kursk offestive, plus the Stalingrad's fight for the airports when germans pulled back...

One of the largest airbattles on the eastern front was during the Battle of the Kuban bridgehead.

Starting in February 4th 1943, 2 days after the German surrender at Stalingrad, the Soviets made a amphibious landing southwest of Novorissisk in the Black Sea. The Germans held a bridgehead over the Kuban river and the south end was anchored in Novorissisk. The Germans and Soviets both considered the area of vital importance so reinforcements continued to pour in and threatened to turn the area into another campaign.

The air battles were considered as pivotal to the Soviet Air Force, the VVS, as Kursk was to the Soviet Army.

The battle started with both sides having roughly 1000 aircraft. Several elite Luftwaffe "Experten" Jagdgeschwaders were based in the area and the Soviets would produce several of their best pilots here. The Green heart, Molders, and Udet JG's were here.

Several soon to be well know Soviet pilots became famous here:

Alexander Poryshkin - ended war with 59 kills (48 while flying P-39 and refused switch to La-7)

Grigorii Rechkalov - ended war with 56 kills, 50 while flying P-39's

Boris Glinka - ended war with 31 kills while flying P-39's

Dimitrii Glinka - ended war with 50 kills, 41 while flying P-39's

The air battle over Kursk on the first day of the offensive, July 5th 1943, remains to this day the largest single-day air battle in world history.

So, in a word, yes.
