I was wondering if anyone has made a arsenal map, and is going to make a 65 version. By arsonal map I mean just a flat ground map with all the vehicles for a army (or a couple of maps). So you could load up say russian arsonal and see all the vehicles for them and try them out.
We have an internal testrange for tanks and aircraft, but there are no plans for public release. (They were made with testing in mind not release - the quality shows that)
i cant imagen that it would be that hard to make, try it out, all you need to do is put all the objects on a defualt map, like gazala

I think that would be to much to load up. The idea is cut back up and statics and maps detail so you could have all the stuff for a army on one map. Dev: ah ok no real hope of a release then. Maybe make it matrix-style environment with all white and a simple ground texture so people know its just the test map? I dunno guess Ill just wait and see if anyone does this. One interresting thing I found when testing for performance is that, even with no statics and limited visibility, map with a high number of spawnable objects lag massively prurely due to the number of spawnable objects - regardless of how many polys they have, I tried with simple 6 poly objects.
how many are talking about here then? 20? 50? Also does the same apply for vehicles all of the same type. I mean I could see how loading would increase with a lot of different vehicel, but I guess this is a performance issue afters its loaded. THe idea being would it be possible to have, say a battle of 30 pz4 vs 30 shermans. Or for example a map where instead of spawing as a person you spawn as a vehicle of your chouce.
Isnt a map like Prokhorovka or Kursk - 1943 a good map to test on? I mean they have wide open spaces, ideal for vehicles and planes, has a good set of different spawnable things and has an average set of statics.

Well, our test map is just a piece of flat terrain without any textures and static and that's all we need:D
Yeah, but loading every vehicle we have won't help... BF won't handle that.
I wonder if they'll alter the way they manage spawnable entities for the better in BF2.
