hey, does anyone know hoe the American flag was named in WWII, you know that flag that was painted on the aircraft. there were different flags, i mean the flag that was on the P-38, P47, F4U Corsair, B17 http://forgottenhope.bf1942files.com/main.php?module=vehicles&country=3&type=2&lang=english i was google-ing but i cant find it maybe a specific name would help.
Flag...? I'm going to assume you mean roundel. The circle with the start in it. It doesn't really have a specific name. The differences in it were pre 1942 it contain a red circle in the center of the star.
Its known as the "Star and Bars" marking.
After 1942 they changed it from the red in the roundel to just the star, because American pilots were killing their own guys.

There were about 4 or 5 versions used during WW2. You can usually ID a aircraft picture's time period by the insignia.

What did the Red and Yellow borders mean?
Dr.FritzWhat did the Red and Yellow borders mean?
Star with yellow border was used for Operation Torch and red border was used in the Pacific for a bit in 1943.
Example of yellow border
Hurricane painted with US roundels for Operation Torch. It was felt the French would not fight as hard against Americans. Brit were still hated for Mers El Kabir.

after searching on the net i can't find a picture of that logo/flag of the stars and bars, i mean the one with the blue surrounding not the red one.(not a pic from a plane with the flag but just the flag) has anybody a pic of that and wants to post it here? i want to paint that logo/flag on my door so i need it for the right scaling.
