Yeah, Im just wondering if theres an SDK available for BF42, or if the team doesnt have anyone whose capable of coding it. Just wondering because a majority of the problems with FH could be fixed with an SDK, so to speak, so is the team lacking proper skills needed or is there just nothing capable of tuning the game to our desires? :talker:

There is no SDK. I'm sure the team is more than capable, I mean look at all the stuff FH's got, like semi-towable 88's and planes launching from battleships.

there is a DSK but it is more a bit old, not for FH and nothing more then a nunch of tools: http://gamingforums.com/showthread.php?t=137184

4. The unofficial SDK Is one of the most usefull tools i used for making maps. it contains these programs : - RFA extractor, RFA maker - TGA to DDS conversion - .dds plugins for 3ds max4 and photoshop - a .tga splitter to make the Tx00x01 style segments from one large image - sm 3d model export tools for max4.2 - .sm material id overwriter (forcematID) - 3ds max objects -> bf spawn postion placing script - 16-bit heightmap sampler max script - .sm Collision mesh -> 3ds max import script - Animation (.baf) import viewer script - Animation debug ascii viewers - And much more download link : unofficial SDK

I doubt that the FH team will make an SDK, they are bussy enough already.

Im too stoned to get the meaning of that but it still made me laugh to the point of spilling my coffee. On another note, why not combine forces with another MOD or something and make a new SDK. Ask those wacky people at DC or EoD to help out, than sooner or later you mightaswell come up with something never seen before. BF42/Vietnam has a strong modding community, maybe when the dust settles from all of those mediocre Mods switching to BFV, some people can get together and create an SDK? Whats the people think..?

The Mod developer Toolkit is also helpful.

there is a DSK but it is more a bit old, not for FH and nothing more then a bunch of tools: http://gamingforums.com/showthread.php?t=137184

I am not programer so I can't explain you this in depth but Montoya, one of our mates has explained this already (and he is programer):

The engine structure of Bf42 doesn't allow to create a SDK Half Life type and change with it the core of the game, DICE doesn't release a SDK because they hate moders or something like that, they don't release it because it's impossible to offer such tool. All the tools that are possible to use in Bf42 have been already developed by moders and asimilated by DICE and released in the MDT: model 3d exporting scripts, animation exporters, menu editors, RFA tools, sound script editors, etc.

We can't get more because nobody can develope more tools. The mitic SDK is impossible, so forget that dream.

Ok fair enough, but what about the animation part of things? I see some top notch ones in BFV and they did some new ones that 'feel right' for the canuck LMG. Why on earth can't they release the exact same tools that they use for animating?! Or if we have been given access to them through MDK - which i doubt after giving them a look - why havent they given a sodding tutorial on it?

Maybe its because FH and some of the other mods have better modellers and skinners. If DICE put out their own tools they used they know they would be out of a job soon.
