So, we only have limited and rather ineffective ways to eliminate tanks in 2.1. I've been using anti-tank rifle to take down the squishy tanks but the problem is destroying the heavier tanks (like Sherman, Panzer III and IV). It's incredibly hard to go near and place the anti-tank charge because you have to avoid being in the tank's line of sight and you have to wish that there isn't any infantry near the tank. I've tried sneaking near and placing mines with engineer to the back of the tank, it was rather fun... Usually the ones who use tanks know what they're doing so they don't get in the middle of the enemies and thus they stay back and attack from there. Pak's and 6 pounders have the problem that they're stationary and after being spotted by tank, you have to wish that he has crappy aiming skills. Grenade is decent (especially potato masher) but still not effective enough and you only have two of them at your disposal. So, after rather lenghty introduction, I've been thinking which ways you use to destroy tanks? Obvious choice is with other tank (d'uh) but you don't always have them available. and sherman vs. panzer II isn't really fair fight anyway. So, do shermans and panzer IVs have some magical spots where you can shoot with AT-rifle and do some damage? Any tips or something? :P

I have had good luck using the AT rifles against the top armor of tanks. If you can find a spot up a tower or something, you might be pleasantly surprised by the damage they do. Also work with squad mates. If the pesky tank doesn't have high explosive ammo, they can only use direct fire to get you. Therefore squad mates can attract their attention - fairly safely - while you sneak up with an explosive charge.

Chorax;4369293 Grenade is decent (especially potato masher) but still not effective enough and you only have two of them at your disposal.

Handgrenades do _not_ harm tanks.

easy guys, just learn him that in FH2 no single footsoldier can manage with a tank( neither in RL, that's why) Chorax, tanks have to get destroyed by tanks, antitankguns, field artillery with AP shells, or dive bombers. So infantry can only man an AT gun, lay AT mines in threaten spots, call for tank, arty or air support (especially for squad leaders who can report enemy tanks on the minimap), or try to commit suicide with an explosive device (Panzerknacker stuff). Anyway, all these countermeasures will demand coordination and team work (for example if you see one or several team mates tryin to sneak up near an enemy tank, don't hesitate to fire a hail of fire in the opposite side of its armour, or to provide a smoke screen, etc...)

If I remember correct, the HE shells of the 25pdr and leFH can severely damage and even destroy tanks now. So parking that tank on a hill within the range of the field gun can be a bad decision. At least if I am behind the pipe. :)

Try to shoot the cupola, I managed to take down PzIIIs with an AT-Rifle this way. Panzer IVs can be damaged from the front, if you manage to hit the vision slits or the area around them, but it takes a long time.

Lol, remember the Wake Island demo, 5 years ago on vanilla BF1942- you only needed 3 grenades to destroy a tank:lol: It was funny as hell seeing a massive tsunami of grenades coming out of the windows of the village huts when a tanker was stupid enough to drive right into the middle of the village, he didn't last 5 seconds. The positive side effect of the ridiculous 'nuke grenades' was that the half-decent tankers would never drive into a built up area without infantry support, which is of course the way it should be.

In other words, late war light recoiless guns sending hollow load projectiles (such as bazookas, panzerfausts, panzerschrecks, PIATs...) are designed for antitank tasks, but AT rifles aren't so much.

AT rifle were designed in the 1930's to kill the crew inside the light tanks of the era.

In 1941-42 they are useless against most tanks, and should be used for heavy sniping against soft armoured things, like (very) light tanks, half-tracks and other light transport vehicles, or AT guns. So ingame, you still can try to scratch a tank with an AT rifle, but IMO it's a waste of time, manpower and ammo (unless you're strictly playing as a lone hunter, which is, hrrmm, kinda pretty useless ;) )
