So im in the middle of playing FH and having fun when out of the blue, the screen flashes black and im magically transported back to desktop. When i try to reconnect to the server (FH@WOLFgaming) it will sometimes not let me in and give me the message "cd key in use." Since im persistent, i try to reconnect again and it'll usually let me in. Well whenever I do make it back to the server , the whole process of despair starts all over again. me = :0wned: I've been playing bf since it has come out and this has only happened to me a couple of times and usually the next day it'll be back to normal. I was just wondering if anyone else gets this problem and if anyone knows what i can do...other than post on forums. Help appreciated...sympathy gets you a cookie. :)

Either someone has gotten ahold of your CD Key via a Keygen, or when your program crashes, the server still recognizes you as being connected, even though you're not, as two instances of your CD Key are being detected. After a while, your connection times out automatically, and eliminates your "ghost" instance, thus letting you connect again. I would guess the second, but the I think someone got my Keygen for BF: Vietnam, so maybe CD Key theft is more prevalent than I thought. First, I'd uninstall BF1942 and FH, update my Direct X, Video and Sound drivers, and then clean install BF1942 and FH. If the problem persists, you might have to call up EA and talk to them about your CD Key

No.. the problem is this.

When you crash, you are still "connected" to the server. When you try to reconnect immediately after being kicked, the server still thinks you are connected, and the CD key in use is YOUR key from you, when you crashed.

Wait 2 or 3 mins and your connection will time out to the server, disconnecting you and freeing the CD key.

The Desktop crashes may be because you didn't delete the .5 directory you had when installing .6, that is the most common cause of CTDs with FH. Reinstall and you should be ok, but be SURE to delete the FH folder first.

I had the same problem and i found that my problem was a ram issue(2x256ddr 3cl and 2x256ddr 2.5cl installed)in bios i 've set ram latency to 3cl ,that was the fix.

No man... the memory latency problem was the cause of the crash to desktop. Trying to rejoin too early makes CD Key in use message apear. That latency problem is very usual with PC 3200 (DDR400 MHz) memory. And If you have an Athlon 64 with two PC3200 dimms I'm sure you have seen this typical crash to desktop error :) I had the same error trying to play FH :D As has been said here, if you increase the latency of the memory, the problem usually is fixed. Be careful with the amps of +12V line in your power suply, some times this is the problem. You have to have as least 18/20 amps in the +12V to get an "Athlon64 + 2 dimms PC3200 DDR Memory" stable system. As you can see, I've readed a lot the AMD 64 forums :naughty: but It's a great proccesor, believe me!! I can play a 1200x1024x32bit full detailed FH without any lag, and as you can imagine, each time I play FH I say "wowwwwwww!!!". I'll never come back to play FH in my old AMD K7 1100 :cya: ps. May be this thread had to be at troubleshooting forum section ;)

I would crash to desktop apparently because I was overclocking with a Windows-based utility for nForce2 boards. Setting it in the BIOS seemed to help.
