I've been playing the torpedo planes today on a empty Midway server. I flew several runs with both planes on all number of ship targets. It seems the Arch-T is just plain broke. Half throttle, level and wavetop height I released a 60cm torp a good distance from the US DD and it sailed right under it. Torped the PoW, hit 90deg, 0 damage (I spawned on it as a US seaman and it was tip top when I tried to wrench it). Granted that is pretty realistic for the PoW to shrug it off. Hit the fubuki with a Arch-T torp and it lowered it to 60-70%... pretty disappointing. The SBD-T (or TBD) seemed to fair better with hit percentages against shallow draft vessles and WAY BETTER on damage. Still both airplanes seem a big disappointment in effective anti-shipping... especially the big battleships. Especially considering how stupidly easy bombing a ship is by comparison. Especially because ships in BF never stick together for AA cover. Successfully torpedoing a ship should really be rewarded or straight bombing punished to make them 50/50 options or so. Curious notes about Midway and torpedoing: 1. The japanese carrier spawns aircraft like mad while the american carrier "only" has up 4 at once. This is designed to be this side's advantage, along with the sub. Unfortunately, gaurding the carrier is the last thing on the Yamamoto's captain's mind and the Jap CV is often wasted. 2. Having your crosshair above the horizon slightly as you release the torpedo in either plane seems to have a surfacing effect on the torpedo making it run into ships and not under them. 3. Torpedos have long long infinate range in deep enough water, great for stand off attacks. Unfortunately, to avoid missing you ususally have to get the model in sidht and by that time you're very close.

I agree. I've always loved torpedo bombers, and try to use them every chance I get.

Oh, and I really like the elevator system. Both carriers should have it and all planes should spawn below deck. In fact if one of the carrier positions "layed like an egg" planes, that would be neat too. So if you wanted a Corsair you would go into slot7 and fire the position and a corsair would pop on deck or below deck. Reduced deck clutter, same effectiveness! I am so smart

I like the elevator operaters. The coolest people in FH are the aircraft carrier elevator operaters.

The not so cool people are the guys who wait for you to put your plane on the elevator and then just go up and down for a long time. But it usally works great if you got someone good manning it. But I can't tell you how many times i've fell threw the hole under the elevator platform.

Maybe: A full hangar deck could lead into a elevator that does 180 degrees as it raises and lowers so planes could taxi aft and be turned by the elevator. One of the things I enjoy is deck handling aircraft on the US CV. I can get all aircraft up top and ordered in a minute. Faster than people getting their own planes. It's a shame on the fast spawn decks like Coral Sea where there's no way to be organized about it.

the worst, lowest, scumbags are the ones that wait until you get in the elevator to steal the Corsair that you waited sooo long for...

I know it's been mentioned to death, but in case it's been forgotten....PLEASE move the infantry spawn point away from the elevator. So many broken bones from unforeseen falls...

Also the ones who watch you move a plane on the elevator then when you move it to the top they jump in.
