Anyone who's played DC will know you can only enter mobile artillery via the gunners position. This prevent idiots hijacking it as you are in the process of firing. We all know just how bloody annoying that is!
DC's implementation had a problem whereby you still enter the US howitzer vehicle via the defensive MG position, and then switch to the drivers position. This kind of made the whole idea pointless. The Iraqi howitzer however, didn't have an MG and the system worked perfectly. I'm not sure whether the MG problem was an oversight or an unavoidable "issue".
Would you like to see a similar (hopefully improved) system in FH?
yes....most arty doesnt have an MG in fh anyway...
I don't want to lose the MG position of priest.
You could simply make only the gunner position enterable in the Priest, so you wouldn't be able to enter MG -> Driver. But of course then once a gunner is in place a MGer couldn't hop on. Can't you use the same code that prevents you switching from #1 to #6 in the Fletcher so you can switch #3 (MG) -> #2 (Cannon) -> #1 (Driver) but not #3->#1 directly? I know the C-130 I think you can only switch to-from the pilot from the #2 position in DC. That way you could hop in and out of the MG spot all day long and the Artillery man would still not be hijackable.
the mg on arty isn't overly useful anyways, considering arty should be well back from where the action is. It doesn't stop the mg being used, it just stops people entering the vechile while someone is manning the mg, and therefore stopping your arty being stolen from under you.
no, they should be one man gunner/driver
Yes, I like this idea and I have told time ago to major to implement it, I guess when he has time he will do, the priest and howitzer could be not changed to avoid the problem
Very important this finally gets introduced into FH aswell !!
There are already very few people using mobile artillery for the purpose wich they were designed for ( most use them as transport ) and those that do will be hijacked while operating the cannon by idiots that want a transport, and on top of that often carried off to be blown up by enemies a few seconds later.....
The one player system as in tanks would mean mobile artillery could be used as a tank, so that wasn't suitable, but the situation as it is now is unplayble in pub servers. DICE should have done something about that, they did even receive a huge petition from the community do do so.
I am happy the Priest finaly got a mg, although the guy is standing up in it, and makes that position practically useless.....but....i often posted about the MG34 that was carried by the Wespe aswell. The Wespe carried a MG34 and it's ammunition in lockers inside the vehilce fighting compartment that were standard factory built. That MG34 could be mounted on top of the gunshield, and it was not meant to fire at aircraft ( although it could ofcourse ) but as some means of defence when the Wespe ran into enemy infantry or light recon vehicles that raided behind the front lines. The Wespe also carried a number of Panzergranate 39 for self defence against heavier armoured recon vehicles raiding behind front lines. The MG34 could also be deployed outside the Wespe for local defence if need be.
Therefore i a convinced Wespe's need a MG position on top of their gunshield, and they really could use that in FH maps where there are no frontlines and enemy jeeps and infantry are all over the place.....no unessesary luxery for a vehicle that can be destroyed by almost all weapons in game including almost all infantry weapons, except pistol munition types...
Why don't they just make the Priest a one-man vehicle with the MG on the top. Sure people can still drive of when you're in the MG, but.. I guess that won't happen too often..
