I hate to be the guy crying wolf here, but i just heard from someone about a new battlefield game, apparently its PS2 and 360 only so far, but they were speculating about a PC release. So i decided to check it out.

The game is apparently called Battlefield: Bad Company, and its main selling point is destructible environments(FINALLY) in a battlefield game. Apparently its also got a serious lack of imagination in the writing department seeing as how the scenario is modern again.

Anyways, just wanted to know how this would affect FH2 and the development thereof.

Of course seeing how much dedicated support EA/Dice have given to the BF2/2142(used interchangeably cause they're the same thing) mod community, i cant expect much more for this one either.

Your thoughts?

What I don't get about games like this is why they don't release it on PC even though it would sell more, and you can have a lot more features than on a console (eg mods, maps etc). But the only sensible reason is graphics, as the PS3 and xbox360 have good graphics.

from what I can tell, bad company will only be 'battlefield' in name only.

Think of it like any other halo-esque shooter.

Game companies are often affiliated with the companies that make the consoles.

Hence: they want to sell consoles and want to be the top-seller. They need games in large numbers - exclusive games. If they sell to PC, people won't buy consoles.

Main point: sell consoles = make games for them. Lock those games to everyone else.

It'll be a good day for the world when all game consoles are in dumpsters or museums...They're PC's with equal or lesser hardware and unupgradeable! What pisses me off is that they have more money sunk into things like Xbox live etc... Just say, Microsoft I'm looking at you, we're sticking with computers and you can do more and there will be more games for the masses since you won't have to port any engines to Xbox and PS3 etc... end of rant.

the main reason consoles sell is because people are afraid that if they spend money on a good computer give it a year or two and it will either be standard or useless.

computers change too fast imo for their own good.

if you buy a console ok you may not be getting all of the customisability but you are buying into something that will last almost 5 years. how many of you can say your computers are 5 years old?

but i agree pc games are better.
