'LIGHTNING [NL']The Germans had 3 tanks if I remember band of brothers correctly, while at first the Americans didn't have any tanks.

However, my complaint with Foy is that it's ugly. The textures are repetitive and way too large. The village is too tightly packed with houses, remember it's a little Belgian country village, not a city centre. This map is at a perfect scale for the engine and it's a shame we have to put up with this monstrosity. (Sorry to whoever made it though, no offense)

I'll second that. It really needs a remake.

It uses the ugly basic textures, basic buildings and the layout is extremely bad. For example, the wall of houses in the back of the map? Or the three storey appartment in the middle of the map? Or the huge houses placed next to each other without any logic? That's just unrealistic. Who would build houses in such locations, with huge houses blocking the views from other houses?

Same goes with Storm. That looks completely unrealistic.

This map is nothing like the real assault on Foy.

If anyone has seen Band of Brothers (saw the Foy episode a few days ago) the village was very spaced out with open muddy roads, most houses were detached and not all in big rows. The advance could be from any direction because there were big open fields at an angle looking down on the town. There were loads of hay stacks (which were just modeled by the Forgotten Hope team for Eastern Blitz) and every field was separated by one or two chicken sheds and spaced wooden fences.

Yet, we are forced to advance and storm down an empty hill from one direction where the Germans can MG us to death from five miles away, there isnt any cover at all. The village is crouded and not spaced out like it should be, there isnt any places for riflemen to snipe from and there isnt any wreckage on the muddy roads (which arent even there) and it looks as if a battle isnt taking place, hell the place doesnt even look like it's been shelled at all.

There arent enough MG's on the map?

Good joke, but this isnt true. There's MG's everywhere and unlike the real scenario the Germans dont use their rifles because everyone has a personal portable MG42 in their hands, and they cant use any PAK40's or 88mm's because they dont have any (yet they were used extensively in the Battle of the Bulge by German artillery crews) which is a loss there.

As for the Shermans, I dont think they arrived till the 101st assaulted and captured Foy, even though the loading screen shows a Jumbo that's a Bulge drawing, not specific to Foy. The Germans should get a StuG3G and a few PAK's.

Right now, I hate Foy. It's just a bad map and in my opinion, the worst Forgotten Hope has to offer. I'm putting my point across with regards to the map maker, who did a good attempt even though I dont like it.

i agree foy needs an overhaul. also i would like to see more infantry based maps. most of the maps are tankbattle maps.(nothing wrong with tankbattle maps) but a little more variety would be good too, i think anyway.

Gobo12Found this interesting pic on a site while trying to read up on the Battle of Foy, foy_big_12_2002.jpg

Well that pic has some wrong things. Instead of a stug there was a Tiger but only one.

Yeah, Foy needs to be changed.

The biggest gripe I have is the lack of the Flak88 on the map. It was a huge part of the battle.

My sentiments exactly. It needs more textures and building variety. If everything is covered in snow then why aren't the buildings eh?

Personally, what I dislike about Foy is:

1.) Everyone takes an SMG (I seem to remember Band of Brothers having most troops equipped with the Garand or K98s...)

2.) Inefficient use of what's there. The flags are very tightly packed, but there's still a ton of space going to waste. The church is a good example. Why's it there, other than for decoration?

3.) The American jeep should be removed, but ticket bleed should be slowed considerably or removed. This helps to concentrate the fight, and prevents ye olde "Jeep to the back" maneuver which sucks the fun out of any map where it occurs.
