I was playing a single player game on Valirisk last night.

I know. I know killing bots is like shooting fish in a barrel but it was tough day in work and I just wanted an easy time.

Anyway, I was bringing a German tank past the ruins towards the Russian base and suddenly came under fire from something big even though I couldn't see anything. After a few moments I realised that I was being Katyushad from the far side of at least one hill. Which meant that the bot was using an artillery target given to it by another bot.

I've never seen this behaviour before in Vanilla Battlefield or Forgotten Hope. So assuming that I didn't misinterpret what was happening I thought that a "well done" was in order to whoever was responsible for the code.

As always thanks to all the dev's for the excellent .66. The flamethrower in particular is very satisfying.

hhmm iv not played with bots but I might have to try this out. Thats pretty impressive us cjordan. i agree about the flamethrowrs, just great and satisfying to use.

I hate the fact that bots got unlimited amount of ammo. I was watching this one bot prone quite far away from a tank and it tried to panzerfaust the tank. It shot the faust, waited a second, then it had another right there... plus no ammobox near anywhere. :/ And i havent played enough SP to find out the bots got unlimited ammo. Meh.

Yeah they do get unlimited ammo, there's no way around that. The bots don't know how to use ammo crates anyways, so it's a trade off. I'd like to take credit for the Katyusha artillery bombardment, but this behaviour has always been in battlefield since vanilla. I just played with the weights to make it more attractive to bots.

I love the fact they get unlimited ammo! They are like mobile ammo boxes! Need another panzerfaust? *pop* You got it!

Thanks for the feedback guys.

My only worry is that the bots get so smart that they start to win. My mid week bot slaughters are very therapeutic, if the tables were turned it would be quite disturbing. HDNs' bit of "weighting" certainly shocked me out of my complacency last night.

When 066 came out first I tested single player and coop to get a feeling for the new maps. I noticed these bots are incredible now. I've got shot more times than in ten single player games using 065. That's frightening - you get a feeling these bots know exactly where you are and what you do ...

Bots full stop are deadly. They're like the Borg, they don't always register your presense but when they do, kiss your arse goodbye.

yeah, ai is impressive, congrats HDN :)

i'm impressed with artillery spoting, now it seems to work in both ways - i can give coordinates and have some chance that few friendly k-rockets are comming, and i can ask for nice soft target while driving katyusha

only thing that makes me repeatedly bang my head whith frozen chicken is the way bots handle bombers.. they seem not to understand what that magic 'relase' word means.. simply - they bomb 'from time to time' spending most of it doing nice circles and eventually crashing

but i dont think it is something anybody can change
