I was seeking material for a pen&paper roleplaying game and i found that Great Britain and Canada were know in the WW2 for the multiple variations of shermans, valentines, churchills and other tanks to make them adequate to engineering tasks like construction, repairing and other second line tasks... My question is, could be possible, with the limitations of BF1942 engine, to make a bridgelaying vehicle? similar to towable artillery but with the difference that the towable estructure should not destroy when a vehicle goes over it? Here an example, a Churchill bridgelayer, i regret not to have a real photo... AVRE1.jpg It would be a fine adittion to some maps where the bridges are destroyed or can be destroyed, giving a possibility of win the map even without airborne troops. Thanks

Should be fairly simple to do since it woould work similar to opening a hatch on an LC. And since Breakthough will now have a destrucatble bridge it might be a good addittion...

Yes, that would be possible within limits.

Bridge laying tank + Stuka /88mm + loads of people = pooned

Using the above rule...

Base + uncrossable River + bridgelaying tank + smacktard [optional] = base rape

Well, I doupt the whole bridge in Breakthrough can be destroyed. I was guessing you´d be able to blow a gap into it about 10 m wide...

I would imagine this would be possible, treat it like the ohka, or a lvcp, and have the bridge spawn off the front of the tank, and that way it also has hitpoints and would be destroyable. Have it also, that it would only spawn one, and could be reloaded at the base, if that is possible. Would make for interesting stradegy that way.

Let's take it a bit further - could it use the same bridge more than once? sort of like the fixed tripod kits?

first the tank rolls in front of the gap. then lowers the bridge (=aim) when it uses primary fire the bridge will spawn (if the bridge has been laid down) when all tanks are across the tank can drive next to the bridge fire secondary fire (pick up bridge, engineer expack code) and raise the bridge.

Good idea if it is postion 3, leaving the turret and spigot mortar capable of firing.

Question is did the Germans have a bridging tank or did they use barges/pontoon bridges
