Megagoth1702 from the Forgotten Honor forums has posted this excellent little software for all of us BF2/PR/FH2 players.

Hey guys! I played Project Reality on the 10th-community server and saw their advertisement for a VOIP tool which offers better sound quality, less latency AND, here it comes, a 3D positioning-system!
What this means?
If your mate to your right is telling you a story, while running away from you, you will hear him to your right, getting quiet slowly. This is awesome, cause we PR-players all know the following:
People shout at you, saying that there are enemies at our six. You turn around and realize, that your mate is like 2 kilometers away from you and his shout was useless... Or probably you hear the people in a jet far away talking about their chicks, you don\'t want to hear that. Sucks. But this will never happen again with MUMBLE!
Just imagine how much more intense the gameplay can become, if you finally always know WHO is speaking and WHERE he is.
All you have to do is: -install Mumble -configure Mumble -connect to one of thousands Mumble servers -play game and enjoy
HOW TO GUIDE:
Go to the Mumble Main Page and download the actual SVN-Snapshot version. (SVN-Snapshot is recommended, because only there you can set ALL the settings the way we want them.)
Install it, there is no special thingy about that.
The first time you start Mumble, an Audio Wizard appears. Everything is self-explaining, just play around with the sliders until you are happy. Watch that you dont make it too sensitive, then we will hear every breath and keypad-entering of you, which we don\'t want to.
Then we go to \"Configure/Settings/User Interface\" and check \"Expert Config\". Should look Like This.
Next - Audio Input: \"Cancel Echo\" - very useful, check it! If you don\'t have a internet connection that is very slow, move the \"Quality\" slider to the right (10) and the \"Audio per paket\" to the left, that gives the others the best quality of your voice. \"The Red/Yellow/Green\"-bar is self explaining, play around. Should look Like This
Next - Audio Output: \"Enable Positional Audio\" - that\'s why we are using Mumble, check.
\"Volume\" - set it as you like but something slightly above 100% will give you perfect understandable voice, ALWAYS.
Minimum Distance - 1m. Bloom (whatever the hell that is) - 100%. Maximum Distance - 100m. Minimum Volume: If you set it to 0%, you will hear 0% of everybody who is at 100m and more away from you, very realistic. But we want to make it TS-Like, so I set it to 30%, even if my mate is far away, I still can hear him, a bit. Should look Like This
Next - Shortcuts: Set them as you like, but remember that some keys you already use INGAME. Important: \"Toggle Mute Self\"- If you need to yell at your mom, please be kind and mute yourself. ;)
\"Force Center Position\"-Good for important things to say, if you are Squad Leader for example and your squad is far away from you, you use this command. As long as the button(s) are pressed and you\'re talking it\'s like TS, everybody hears you like you\'re standing next to them. Should look Like This.
Next - Messages: Mumble has a bot, that reads stuff like \"player X has joined server\" to you. Of course we do NOT want this, so just turn the volume down. ;) Should look Like This.
Next - Plugins: Just check the \"Link to Game and Transmit Position\" thingy. Should look Like This.
Next - Overlay: As my BF2 \"who is talking right now\"-overlay does not work correctly, I am happy that Mumble has a nice working one. ;) Enable it, \"show only talking\" is the most useful setting. You know who you are, so you DON\'T want to \"always show self\". If you set it up like I have, the names will appear right under the minimap (which you see in vehicles).
The \"Font\" options are another little playground for you, I found the original font too big, so i just changed it to \"Verdana\" in size 19.
YOU ARE READY TO GO! All you need to do now is connect to one of those thousands mumble servers and get your (team-, squad-)mates in your channel.
Mumble works also with
other BF2 mods, I am sure. (This goes to all FH dudes here, hehe.)
I do not know how to set up an own Mumble Server, but there are lots of them already AND there are lots of opportunities to get a free one (for being registered in a forum or something free like that).
Satisfied Customers! Today I tried mumble with Hugh_Jardon, spoons and dutch and they all love it. :) So give it a try!

Interesting. If the software works as described here, it would certainly enhance immersion. I think the best use would be for a popular public server to adopt it.
If someone is far away from you, you can't hear him at all? I'll just use Ventrillo :p Excellent sound quality and stuff.

Ventrilo is considered a hack in many circles :P
The first file was a faulty one...testing another one now...forgotten hamster download will be up agains soon.
Seeing as I cannot edit my post...the new file is up now. This is the correct one this time. And it seems to work for us. It's hilarious fun ;)
Just tested this with matyast on BF2 vanilla, FH2 2.15 and in our internal testing version of FH2 and it works like a charm. Had a fun lil game of "Flash!" and "Thunder!" in the hedgerows. :)
Great tool for clans and tournament. Would be cool if this can implemented on a public server like hslan. Login in to the server, join a squad, alt-tab to mumble and join the appropiate channel.
Would be even greater if this could be implemented directly into the game...
