As McGibs says: if something is not broken, don't break it :D
We were discussing about alternative methods but we feel the vanilla system will prone less to abuse, so we have the standard spawn on SL
I don't think its about whether or not something is broken, its about whether people are going to play the SL the correct way. If it's not fun to lead a squad (i.e. hiding out all the time), not many people will do it and then you've got Vanilla gameplay. If the SL attacks he'll die just as quick as his squad mates (WWII human wave no?) and then we have people spread all over the map - travelling to and from flags again. Rally points are a pretty good improvement to vanilla, I am pretty surprised it wasn't really taken up. All they do is let a SL have a game as well and help keeping squads together. Without them, I can imagine squads won't really mean anything apart from the occassional extra spawn point for a squad member (no such bonus for a squad leader). Rally points can't move themselves nor can they shoot back... I am of an opinion that a game without squads is pretty much FH1 with better graphics. I am sure others disagree and prefer the do-what-you-want approach so there is no "better" way. Perhaps, as the tools update implies, we should all be on teamspeak instead of in-game voip and forget the squad system altogether. We'll see what happens over the next month or two. Thanks for the replies guys, and thanks especially for your work. It's been a long wait so I can only imagine how much work was involved. Much APPRECIATED. Thanks and see you in the bunker. Billy.

I dont think so (IMO) ;)
The problem with them in PR is that you can easily glitch them inside a wall, hillside etc. and I don't really like that.
Nigosky - do you ever lead a squad and if so, what is your usual approach? Kradovech - they fixed that in the newest version, the rally point goes down at the SL's feet, so unless the SL has glitched into a wall it's not going to happen. Anyway, enough out of me, it doesn't look like it's something destined for FH2.
I'm kinda glad they are staying with the vanilla system. I can just imagine some squad leader trying to frantically throw up a tent while in a firefight...that would be rather funny actually =p
I don't play a lot PR so maybe I am wrong, another problem with rally points is usual spawnraping, no?, this doesn't happen with standard SL spawn, other argument to use it in FH2.
I enjoy a lot to be SL, I like to spot for my soldiers and offer smoke with my kit, when I must charge I charge with my desert rats and die with them.
Don't worry, people will use squads, FH is so teamplay oriented that people will not succeed if they don't take full advantage of the squads system
Maybe the SL needs something better than a tent ?

Like an instant bunker(tm)? Just add water.
I certainly hope so Lobo. I am old, points and "frags" don't mean squat to me. Team games with other human beings are what it's all about for me. Playing against other people in terms of Tactics and strategies instead of just basic motor skills is the reason some people play BF games instead of CS type arena games. (Some of course love both.) I like telling people what to do AND being told what to do ( Kinky! hee hee ). Thanks again BTW. Maybe I'll just hang around the emplaced MG34s, 6 pounders or muck about with the mortars on my Pat-Malone (own) if I get tired of lurking around the back of some sand dunes trying to stay alive.
