Just came back from playing Bombing The Reich on FtN. Awesome map! Played it in a dark room (21:30 here) and it wasn't too dark because ingame there is a clear sky and a full moon (IMO a genius "excuse" to make night maps a little brighter) and the tracers looked awesome! I am really really pleased with BTR and Blackknight because I was the most afraid for these 2 maps and they came out as 2 of the best! :D

For the God sake boys, a videogame must be played in a dark room to enjoy the graphics. IMHO our two night maps have the best graphic looking of the Bf42 scene, don't you remember the horrible night maps in Bf42: Secret weapons?

Operation Blacknight is perfect, it needs caution, of course, is a damn night map, but is not play underground Vietcong without lantern!!!!

The devs already cater enough to us by giving us a full moon in those maps with light cloud cover. How much more of a nightlight do you need? If the engine supported spotlights, then that would be the only other light I'd want in the game.

I dont think you would want to be the one carrying the light anyways.. can you imagine 50 or so players (cant tell who you are over a distance) turning thier guns and firing at you? :p

AceSMost people love the night maps and the fact that there is hardly any light. Advice: your monitor seems to be too dark. Just try to adjust it manually (usually you have buttons on the monitor to adjust brightness;)

What if they are at max (both constrast and brightness) And I can't afford a 190$ new monitor with all the new stuff im purchasing :(

I wasn't saying we should have lanterns or flashlights, that would be insane and asking to die, be it in the game or in RL. I was talking about searchlights from towers, vehicles or something. But I'll hope and pray that the dudes working on BF2 have the foresight to make this capability work in the engine.

Old monitors lose a lot of brightness over the years guys.....

Not likely if it is only a few years old and you bought it when it was new, but some people bought a cheap monitor from a stock of used buisiness/industrial computers and these can be worn out pretty bad.....

Over the years in CTR monitors the electron cannon wears down and loses much of it's power, wich is the most obvious in brightness settings, that won't allow you too see what is happening in dark area's in games. Ofcourse it helps to play in a dark room if your monitor is worn out, but it will only get worse over time and you need a new(er) one anyways.

Besides, playing video games in a dark room ( Lobo  ) seems to be unhealthy according to the warnings that come in the first pages of game manuals or included warning leaflets with each new video game.....now most of that comes from publishers being afraid for financial claims ( only in the U.S.A. ofcourse ) from parents of children with undiscovered epilepsy, but in general too strong flashes of light ( if your room is dark the flashes are much stronger ) isn't beneficial for healthy people neither. At least you can get headaches out of it. :kerian:
