What happened to the Deployable 88 in FH1?

Anyways, a truck transport a 88 whit wheels... so the driver deploy the 88 in a strategic position and shot down planes or tanks.

To be precise Version 0.6 of FH1 - Aaw, how sad, It would've been a logistical improvement in strategy being able to tow guns to attack points and even cooler if every gun had specific vehicles that could tow it, like the 88 etc.. I was under the impression that a player or 2 could work together and drag an AT gun, faster if 2 work together than 1, and better yet, that they could be towed by trucks, jeep etc... Well, no harm in dreaming the undreamable, no?

To be precise Version 0.6 of FH1, in 0.7 the devs replaced em with an truck with an 88 atop that could be fired on the move... I so hated that version of the 88 -But the towed 88 caused lag, I recall - Aaw, how sad, It would've been a logistical improvement in strategy being able to tow guns to attack points and even cooler if every gun had specific vehicles that could tow it, like the 88 etc.. Yeah, FH1 had the awesome deployable 88, well you'd hold the arrow and it'd unload, but it was prone to shooting it's own hitbox heh..I do remember there being actual deployable ones though, along the lines of the Mg42's from Halftracks etc, but I dont remember what happened to them, I think it made people crash lol

I think that the towed ATG (or arty, or AA, or whatever) might be possible in FH2 as well, the problem is how complex it would be to make.

Deployable stuff is possible in BF2 (see the deployable mortar in AIX, for example) so the only problem is making a somewhat realistic truck + towed gun model. The difficult part is making the towed gun articulated so it follows the terrain instead of just "sticking out" of the truck.

I wonder if it might be possible this way: - add to the truck model an invisible "carriage" with an invisible pair of wheels. This carriage should be part of the truck, and respond to the underlying terrain like tank tracks do - add an "eye candy" towed gun (coded like vBF2 planes' ammo, for example) that rests over the invisible carriage

When the gun is deployed: - the eye candy towed gun disappears - a temporary eye candy deployed gun is placed on the ground (maybe coded like an expelled shell?) - the invisible carriage rotates/folds into the truck model (might require complex animation work though) - after the invisible carriage is out of the way (so that there won't be any collision between the deployed gun and the carriage), the real deployed gun is placed, and the temporary eye candy gun removed.

Do you think it might work? It would need improvements (like defining collision meshes, a damage system for the towed gun, etc.) before being usable, but it might be a starting point
