well im not sure if i will start one of those maps but welll ...maybe
i think i will make a new map for stalingrad or foy ...
so i need a few references....
do you have pics from scenes of the movies enemys at the gate or band of brothers ? if so ...post them here ..... or if you have different ones (historic documents.... maps....battle plans... everything ...just post them
Yes! He's redoing Foy!!! I'll look for some pics.
but can i ask one thing - after you make next foy map, can you LEAVE current one in the mod? many people like it.. even when we know it is cartoon rather than realism - but it plays good and look good, not great, but solid and good i ask because i sometimes miss many maps that were removed - kursk/kharkov ones - i know prok is 100 times better - but there are situations when you simply want a small and stupid map..
i miss pavlov house... :/
Well, If your doing a stalingrad map you should do the Factory area & not the docks like so many games have done. For Example the Supermarket area of Stalingrad would great. Also some nice Sniper battles, One thing that would be great would be a Propaganda Hanomag playing that stuff from Enemy at the gates. Also you could make Radio destroyable spawn points :). Could be interesting & would be great to have ramdom spawn. Also another thing I found when doing Urban city was was to immoblise a tank at the main gate to the uncapturable base, It would only be able to be used bt the correct time. Thus would provide a anti camper defence & fire support for infantry leaving there base.
That's the only one I could find. Even out of an entire Band of Brothers search. :uhm:
http://ns1.strataegis.com/~cc5mods/RO.html stalingrad railroads, its from another mod, yet not BF, anyway you guys can make a new map that can replace this? http://gum.doubleukay.com/modules/xoopsgallery/cache/albums/album54/ArtilleryStalingrad.jpg http://joeyeng.myftp.org/blog/images/cod3.jpg pics of stalingrad river and beach from CoD http://gum.doubleukay.com/modules/xoopsgallery/cache/albums/album54/ArtilleryStalingrad.jpg a pic of stalingrad inside the city from CoD Foy pics from band of brothers, other than that, cant find any info except one site http://home.zonnet.nl/dodgewc54/images/Bulge/Bulge-2.jpg hope these help! you guys gotta get the right skins for the US, check above! anyway will we be seeing other redos of maps? The redo of Wake was awesome, big thanks to whoever made it, will we see other redos for other maps like the DICE one, the storm and valirisk? just adding detail to what was done to these maps like wake would be great...Arminace, wish ya luck on the maps!!!!
[QUOTE=Nurenig] One thing that would be great would be a Propaganda Hanomag playing that stuff from Enemy at the gates. Also you could make Radio destroyable spawn points :). Could be interesting & would be great to have ramdom spawn. QUOTE] Instead of the Hanomag Propoganda from Enemy at the Gates. Have clock ticking sounds like what really happened at Stalingrad. Once the Russians had the Germans surrounded they played the sound of a clock ticking 24/7 on loud speakers. That would have been horrible to be one of the Germans having to listen to that and knowing that it is only a matter of time before you get shot, shoot yourself, or get captured!:uhm:
Never move forward, continue to reinvent the wheel. Progress 1 decimal at a time.
Besides the numerous war movies of the past 6 years what other source of references might there be?
Anyone see another stalingrad film besides Enemy at the gates? Maybe Stalingrad...
I'd like to see new territory explored not another PIAT model or a foy revision. What about Phillipines, New Guinea, China, Burma, India, Greece, Yugoslavia you know the places NOT popularized in recent films. Something else might be a set of good M3 Stuart skins, but I've already asked for that. Currently its a modified sherman skins forced to stretch and fit over the stuart model.
Firstly, I'd HIGHLY suggest you to read Antony Beevor's Stalingrad. It's an extremely accurate novel-type book about the battle of Stalingrad, going through all the major phases of the battle, the most important structures like the tractor factory and the huge concrete grain silo and so on, while taking a view on individual soldiers experiences too.
The book also includes several reference maps and pictures of the battle, which would come very handy.
Based on the book, my view of the map would be as follows:
First off, the map would be a push type of, with each teams having uncap bases. It would have a dark, desperate, theme taking place on early winter with dark skybox and smoke rising from the background. A wet, muddy ground would best present the feeling of the season. Background sound would consist of constant shooting and the howl of Stalin's organs coming from the river Volga.
The city of Stalingrad would of course be nothing but ruins of what it used to be, with hardly any standing buildings, full of grenade and bomb craters. There would be several tank wrecks laying on the streets, mainly Panzer 3, StuG 3G and T34, covered in rubble and mud.
German team would have few, very quickly built trenches or rather just dugs with machineguns pointing to the east. There would be some simple dugouts too, like in the map Karelia.
The idea of the map would be to fight over few big apartment buildings, or building ruins if you like, rather than just flags on a street, as in the current Berlin map or in any other current FH maps.
The buildings themselves would have many floors, exists and entraces, very much like the Pavlov's house map in CoD. The Germans could possibly enter the building from upper floors and the basement (which you would have a tunnel leading to, only from German side. Somewhat similar to the mines of Eastern Blitz), and the Russians would be right there in the middle holding a flag. This awkward situation was common in Stalingrad, and I'd like to see that somehow represented in the map.
So, there would be around three cappable flags to be attacked push style, with most of the combat taking place inside the buildings or building to building.
And please! Leave those terrible, terrible DICE buildings out! They kill the atmosphere better than anything.
Russians would start from the eastern side, and Germans from the westend side of the map.
Anyway, that would be my vision of the Stalingrad map, and what I'd like it to look and play like.
Armin ace Im really excited to hear you might be making a new stalingrad map, and a new foy map like in BOB would look much better than current one. First of all Id like to throw in some ideas for stalingrad: Size I personelly dont like the small stalingrad maps, id like it to be a large city map, large like all the best maps in fh. But not with way too many objects in it. layout what phase of the battle are you going to try and recreate? I would like to see the final battle when the general Paulus'es 6th army are completely surrounded by the russians in stalingrad. I think this best represents the battle. I dont like it when the germans start one side of the map and russians the other, this battle was a huge trap, an encirlement. Pitomnik airfield this was the only airfield in stalingrad which kept the germans re-supplied. And also allowed the luftwaffe to attack the russian reinforcements arriving at the city. Season I also think the ruined city of stalingrad would look best as a winter map. Tickets I think if you do the map where the germans are surrounded. This should be a defence map for the germans as they wait for Von Manstein's relief army to reach them. The germans should not lose ticket points until they loose flags. The soviets should lose tickets all the time from the start until they capture the city (all flags). Smoke effects I think massive clouds of smoke coming up from the buildings like in XWW2 would make the map look completely awesome. Well these are just a few ideas Im gonna search the internet for pictures now, but I hope your stalingrad is a snipers hunting ground like in "enemy at the gates".
