Well - most important to me is the performance and the mouse. So yes - it does :)

9thInfantryRAMQuestion: Is ones computer compared to another make a difference while gaming online? The reason for the question is this. When it comes to rifle kills it seems that others have an advantage. I'm an average to above average player. I always use a rifle in lieu of sub machine guns. When I face my foe and for the most part I'm talking about long distance shots I've noticed that if they are not aware of me and I miss the first or second shot I've noticed some players can immediately crouch and pop a shot so fast that takes me out in one shot. I use to think that guy's hacking but it happens to often. Other times I've noticed the shoe is on the other foot were I even at close range will come face to face and pop a shot and take them out. I wonder what's wrong with that guy he had me first and I still beat him to the draw. I still question why I get killed by someone not knowing I'm shooting at them and then all of a sudden can take me out with one quick shot while I'm already taking aim and cross hairs are small as if they dont have to wait for the cross hairs to adjust. In thoses case were I'm the one who does the killing my crosshairs didn't move any faster than anyother time. So long story short, does ones computer vs another have any part in this game? Does IP, video card, RAM, processor allow some players to have the advantage over those with lesser machines? I've adjusted ingame settings to help with my gaming experience but I'm still fustrated when a player runs across a map and I miss 1-3 times and they crouch and fire 1 shot so fast that my cross hairs are still adjusting and take me out as if I'm in super slow-mo. What's up with that??

No really........ Back when I had crappy ping with my 56K I always was just a wrench fella everytime I played. Ping does matter but when you get used to your ping you can lead your shots just right. I am a GOD some maps with the Mauser! And I live in Maine!

Performance can make a difference sometimes. If your game is running really slow (low fps I mean) your monitor may show the guy in your crosshairs, but the server may already have him 5 steps to the right, prone, ready to blow your head off, etc. Obviously ping also factors into this, since the faster you can get new data from the server, the more accurate it is. If it's really that bad, turn down the settings and turn on the FPS monitor for a little while to see what it registers; dealing with that frigging wavy line (thank God it's not in BF2) is much better than having your game messed up, trust me.

If you need some cheap upgrades, the best thing to do is plunk down some cash for extra memory (especially for FH if you're only running 512 like me since half of it was fried when my power supply burnt out:mad: ). $75 will get you a matched Gig of Corsair Value stuff, or you could live life on the edge and buy from some cheapo company like Ultra and get it for like $20 a stick at Tigerdirect. That I don't reccomend, cause I used some of it in a really cheap computer for my mom, and it just failed after about 8 months of use, but I don't care what you do (just don't look at me if it craps out).

Oh and if your video card is really crappy, but you have PCI-E you're in luck. Newegg has 6600GT's for $99 each now. If you're still stuck with AGP like me, good luck finding something decent. Your best bet is to look if Tigerdirect still has any 6800GT's in stock, because I know for a fact that Newegg has none.

It's an exploit. The player will wait for the rifle's crosshair to become small, then change to pistol or mouse. Then they can jump up and down to their heart's content, spin around, take out their rifle, and pull off a super-accurate shot, as the reticle for the rifle is still small, as it was before the other weapon was pulled out.

In some servers it's acceptable to do so, but in most it isn't. I'd advise you don't do it.

Speaking as someone who used the knife bug on heavy machine guns, I never have, and never will use the knife bug on rifles. Why? Because its just not efficient. I can get a shot off alot faster the normal way than waiting for it to switch weapons. It just aint practical to use it for rifles or smgs. Although im sure there are SOME people out there that do. Also, in this version when you crouch the crosshairs get small ALOT faster than they did in the older versions so maybe thats what your experiencing. And dont hate me for using the old knife/mg bug in the older versions because I could practically count how many times ive went mg class on my hands. I was mostly rifle/at in the last version. :uhm:

I also wondered about such shots but I guess I'm just too slow.

As for my comp, FH runs quite well but sometimes it just freezes for a few seconds. This is very annoying when I'm flying a plane and got me kicked from servers several times.

Thanks for the advice. I tried to tool around with the fps and setting resolutions. I experienced 20-60fps. I always get good pings, I have 1 gig memory, and I've not noticed any problems with game play. But, it seems that maybe my machine is just getting old. As for the hackers & glitchers, well I thought that was the problem, but I thought punkbuster eliminated those guys. Glad to see I'm not the only one noticing the quick draw rifle kills. I would post something but it will just get edited. What is wrong with flaming? Forum admins can flame TDP. I used to play on TDP but they banned me for shoveling an admin. Those damn admins.

Player skill I think has alot to do with it... A good monitor coupled with good ping, and some experience does wonders for extreem range shooting. And of course good fps along with CS like computer response are very important (by this I mean you press forward and you move forward no delay, unlike being on a ship in bf). None of these are critical (unless horribly bad) but normally if more than 1 is below par gameplay suffers, skill being the only exception :D (no skill = shitty performance).

Once crouched, the crosshairs in .7 take very little time to close, and it is not very difficult (provided good fps) to have the dot on your target by the time the crosshairs are closed. Those idiots who are dumb enough to jump while running put themselves at a huge disadvantage by lengthening the time it takes to close the crosshairs and therefore are not a real threat at range. Jumping also makes them my #1 priority just because they annoy me and I try to make sure they die first  . Against a skilled player you are put at a disadvantage if you continue to miss him while he is running; He is a moving target, you are stationary, once you are spotted he has an easy staionary target to hit. To avoid being shot MOVE to the side as soon as you see him crouch to fire. Maybe it is possible to get off one shot before he fires but start moving as soon as you shoot, and either recrouch and fire another shot before he can get a 2nd off, or find cover.

Provided your computer can run FH decently (unlike my poor laptop) the deciding factor when in a fight is most likely going to be skill. However a good computer can make a differance between people of similar skill. Also remember some people have been playing this game for quite some time and have had more than enough time to get good at the harder rifle systems prior to .7 (I forget if they were harder maybe its just the influx of jumping targets .7 brought).

I could be wrong, and I do find the good players tend to have lower load numbers. My desktop usually loads top 3 on a full wolf ^_^ and both people who use it tend to do well (Irish being the other), abite different playing styles. Then again, both of us did well when I had a radeon 7200 in there (lol passive cooling), allthough not as well.

PS: cant compare my desktop to laptop, as laptop has huge performance issues (WTF I cant move for 5 sec cuz a plane flew overhead  ) sry for long post :(
