i had an idea that would take some work-but i think it would be cool-what if you could crash your plane on a bad landing instead of it blowing up immediately? it would make for increased survival and also you could make cool movies of bombers limping home etc only to hit the tarmac and watch the props etc get bent up....the way i figured it is it would work similarly to the "tank disabled " feature of maybe its bg42 i think. ie you got 10 seconds before it blows if you are lucky and only if it is a bee's dick away from full damage. obviously as not too many of us probly land an aircraft in the game ( dammit shot down again!!) it may be underutilized but it would be cool though......
I would like it if planes didnt blow up as they hit but idk if its possible or the devs wanna do it .
Sure, if you can get an SDK from EA, or figure out a way to code it yourself. The tank disabled feature of BF42 happens naturally to all tanks/vehicles in BF when they reach a certain level of damage, they just increased the amount of time it flames. Planes just fall to the ground if disabled and crash, causing an explosion.
Not much is possible with bf1942. I hope BF2 will be different (when it comes out)
you hope, but i doubt it
The "dead stick" is already coded in, when you take enough damage you are no longer able to control throttle, rudder, nodda... I very much enjoy riding the thing to my untimely digital world death...
I rather hope that BF2 will have more varied wrecks, so if your plane gets hit there should be a chance it may just lock up and go towards the ground, or explode. Although I'd love to see active damage models, like if you fire at a plane you may blow a chunk of a wing off but the plane is still marginally flyable.
Having a flexible damage system like Gerbera suggests would be brilliant, and having permanent wreckage would be great as well, say a tank gets hit in the tracks and they break while destroying the whole side of the tank there could be a hole in the side.
I dont know about that but something like XWWII's 2.5 plane explosion effects would be cool:
It looks a lot better than a floating plane corpse, that's for sure. Pure eye candy, but damn smooth on teh eyes.
The only problem is that if it crash and surie it landing gaer atomaticly come out. That on huge problem.
