I think what would need to be overcome in order to have such a map would be the split level with water being on both. One possible solution might be to have one level river but have a massive wall of some kind stretching across it with an inner tunnel where infantry could man mounted mg's. On top would be the flaks etc... I do like the idea of the generator room - (reminds me of MOH for the ps2)

Just remember that you cannot make it too laggy....maybe something like BoB...

Is there a way to do two different levels of water? I was under the impression that there's not, but I could always be wrong...

I would guess if there's a problem with that you just make the upper part land with a water texture - although people running across it may look wierd - almost biblical :)

I think the problem is with any plane only map is unless theres enough planes/positions to go around what does everyone else do?

Take for example a 46 player server (pimping done for the day :D), if there 3 spaces per bomber you'd need 7 bombers to keep the allied team in the air. The FPS drop would be bad (not lag, lag is to do with your net connection, I wish people would get it right!) due to all the objects and then the dam is not even in there yet.

Attacking V1 sites would be fun though.

The out of bounds idea sounds ok...the damn would have to be the edge of the map with the lower half leading into the main map itself..this would prevent any boming runs on the dam itself. If the dam idea was too difficult to impliment then how about a hilltop fortress? This would still be attacked by air but you could have regular bombers - allowing for more men on defense and some to be dropped if needed. In this map I would like to see, if possible, some rail cars leading up to the top of the hill...

If BG42 devs/mappers can make large maps with extremely many vehicles and without lag ( or dense fog ) , so can FH devs/mappers.

Gazala and EL ALamein are big maps too, without dense fog or lag. The trick seems to be, not to add too much buildings or objects in a map and it will be lagfree........that is no critisism on the FH mappers, they made FH maps that detailed on purpose, because these maps are meant to be enjoyed fighting on the ground. ( shouldn't have aircraft in those maps though, fog and aircraft doesn't work out that well ) I don't know what trees do to framerate ( or if there are trees that are texture and not an object ) but Germany in general can be farmland and forrests, there doesn't need to be many buildings.

An air map by default doesn't need a high detailed map with many buildings and objects, it is not made to be on the ground outside the target area or the airfields. An air map isn't an infantry map, here and there a farm with a vehicle to get back to the airfield if you are shot down in the middle of the map would be very much enough.

If made the map will suck just like the other 'air battle' maps like Coral Sea and Battle of Britian, BF engine just isn't good for very big maps which would be well suited to dog-fighting.
