42If made the map will suck just like the other 'air battle' maps like Coral Sea and Battle of Britian, BF engine just isn't good for very big maps which would be well suited to dog-fighting.

Agreed, at least someone should try and give it a fair chance. I feel that this kind of map would almost force people to work as a team otherwise you will be stuck in one area the whole time. This would give the real "team players" a chance to work with others to conquer the enemy.
After I finish the current map I am working on, I plan to make a Raid on Ploesti map. Hopefully by then .62 will be out and that it might contain B-24s. I plan on making it with the 5 main objectives of the real attack, 3 different flak rings consisting of Veirlings, flak 38 and flak 18s and the barrage balloons that ringed the city. The germans will also get 3 Bf109s and if its in the rfas, the train mounted flak guns. I also plan on having 5 b-24s start in the lower left at an airfield, and having 4 more spawn in the circling spawns in the upper left, like the Betty has on Wake and the zeros and Achival has on Phillipines, so it will more likely cause the criss crossing affect that happened that day. The tough part will be making the objects act like the factory in BoB. But at least it is possible.
I would like a dam map like the one in CoD...which I was just playing, it would be so cool if we could be able to code that only a few people can spawn somewhere thatway we could have like 4 people go and try to destroy the AA before the bombers come.

i hated that mission, along with the other british ones. seemed like i was playing allied assault again rather than in a war. pegasus bridge was alright, even if it was a tad exaggerated.
Well the Brit maps are a little MOHAAish but a cool SAS map would be awesome!

Same here, but I loved the dam mission in Secrt Weapons Over Normandy, the game is really arcadish, but it was fun.
Beast of WarMaybe the FH (related) mapper that wants to make such a map is affraid his work will be for nothing, but it can be a breakthrough experience. Especially if it comes with a guide how to play it right, so player can enjoy real WWII action instead of just another first person fragger game. The engine does allow it, the vehicles are there and waiting for - a for once - correct role and purpose, and there will be players liking that map if they know how to play it.
Ive always thought that they should make an airforce map consisting of masses of planes like that spawn one in wake and midway. At the start of the map the germans all select this one point in the air over water, and then when everone spawns they are all in their own planes and have to press forward to stop falling. Then youd get upwards of 20 people all in planes in a massive wave. Something like that for me is a better idea for create. It really ruins the atmosphere of that map to sit there and see this one lonly plane in the sky dropping men. If you had like 10 german planes, each with around 4 spaces in it, and have it as a spawn at the start of a map, youd have like 10 planes all full of paratroops dropping hoards of men all over the island.
Operation "Catechism" would be a great air map and we'd get to use those new Lancaster’s. Everything for a map of this is already modeled. Just keep the ground detail to a minimum and modify the Tirpitz so that there are more AA gun positions and no main gun positions. For the sake of game play I would also add some of the German fighters that were in the area but never made it to the fight suspended over the map. Then just line the fjord with ground based AA and you have the first air based FH map.
Great...I am glad that my idea was not shot down too bad...I am glad to see others agree that we do need a solely air based map. I can't wait to see how this turns out...I hope this happens and some ideas are included from here!!
