I actaully miss the old more powerful rifles. Making rifles less accurate than they are now would detrimental to game play. It takes a good amount of time from a running start and stop for the cross-hairs to close. I think player skill and mouse sensitivity are major factors here.

As anyone who's been in the military knows, humping around a 10-pound rifle, field equipment, and a couple hundred rounds of ammunition is hard work. Thumping down on hard ground, finding your sight picture, trying to regulate your breathing, all pretty difficult. And that's if no one is shooting at you...

All we have to do is move a mouse around.

Other than Bunny-Hopping being a pain: I'd say the physics are good.

Wait for FH2, with iron sights and slow movement in iron sight mode you will get most of what you want. But us rifle jockeys better get to keep our accuracy.

You have a point, in that in that it's easier than RL to get a good, steady and quick sight picture, but a couple of points: 1) Iron sights are coming and you'll get a lot of your wish; 2) At least in SP/Coop, the bots (in high diff/high AI-to-CPU ratio) fairly consistently get a clear, steady sight picture sooner than the player, i.e., if you and an enemy bot see each other simultaneously at a moderate distance and both aim simultaneously, the bot will likely get off his killing shot before you.

pfff... the iron sights only replace the crosshair. At least until they've spent a few releases on the system. As long as the bullets don't go where the barrel is pointing, there's no reason to use the iron sights (except for the zoom of all things.....)

I'm pretty sure the bullet cone in BF2 is much tighter when sighted.

but you still know less about where the bullets will fly when using iron sights, than without! you don't know how much extra inaccuracy-penalty the engine is giving you (for whatever reason - sane or silly). while i'm all for iron sights, i want them to be done properly. that means making them work, give you more information, certainly not less (unlike in bf2: you lose a lot of your screen, the tip of the iron sight where you're aiming is as wide as the Jahre Viking is long, and you don't know your penalty).

Working iron sights would also mean the end to buying second hand monitors, only to find an ugly dot in the center of the screen; since the actual spot where the bullets would fly would vary as the iron sights moved around (not the entire view direction - we don't want motion induced sickness). Inaccuracy would be portrayed by having the two parts of the sight disalign.

I would like to see a system in FH2 where your stamina bar very slowly decreases as you move around (not running), and then decreases at the normal BF2 rate when running. And if it's at zero, you can't jump.

I've always been partial to huge firefights, with no one really hitting anything. So whatever, I don't really care either way.
