Ok guys, as many of you have readed at Steam, Day of Defeat: Source, the WWII Half Life mod updated with the Half life 2, is near, and will be released this spring.

Steampowered news Day of Defeat: Source Approaching Beta February 24, 2005, 12:33 pm ยท Chris BokitchDay of Defeat: Source, Valve's World War II-themed multiplayer action game, is approaching beta and will be available early this spring via Steam. A team-based multiplayer game that cast players in the Axis vs. Allies battles of Western Europe circa 1944, Day of Defeat: Source leverages the power of the Source engine to introduce integrated physics simulation technology, all new audio, updated maps, enhanced effects and more. More information about Day of Defeat: Source will be released in the coming weeks.

http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=news&id=398 Most of us have played (or still playing today) with this great WWII mod, may be the first WWII mod for an online FPS ever. It's sure the migration to HL2 engine will improve the mod a lot, but as many of you asked when Doom II or Half Life 2 were released, do you think FH will be affected? Personally, I don't think so. I really loved/love DoD, and it'll be great to play with this improved version. But FH will be my main WWII game for ages, I suppose. Until FH were migrated to BF2, of course  But, What about you?

It will beat FH in my list, mostly because of the BF1942 crappy engine, well we'll see BF2 I hate this engine :uhoh:

Maybe it will defeat FH playerwise, I mean there are way more people playing halflife+mods than bf+mods but the mod will never be better than FH in quality, just take alook at the recent screenshots they look horrible. Besides isn't DoD heavily focussed on infantry? If so you can better compare it to RO and than DoD has a long, very long way to go to be better.

Yeah, DoD doesn't have vehicles, but infantry combats suck in BF1942, but the vehicles of FH are the salt

DoD:S doesn't look perfect today, but may be tomorrow, when DoD:S left Beta phase. HL2 has a great quality in textures & models so DoD:S could have it too. About vehicles, HL2 includes vehicles. And there're many HL2 mods with vehicles, and some are focused in the WWII. Then DoD:S could have it too again. And I know BF1942 infantry combats are really bad implemented, but if you've seen some BF2 videos I'm sure FH+BF2 will be the perfect marriage for a WWII shooter :D Time will tell ;)

for graphics and atmosphere, the present FH beats DoD, hands down.. they are only better, in the close quarters infantry battling. i expect the same will be true of, DoD:soarce and bf2 i havent tried HL2 yet, but im interested in how the new physics will add, to that game. and is there anyword on ragdoll physics for BF2, or enviromental physics?

I've HL2 and I can say that its physics are simply A-W-E-S-O-M-E. To me that's the best feature of HL2 engine. As I've seen in available videos, BF2 seems to have really great physics too. Better than HL2's? I don't know... Again, time will tell. But it'll be a hard fight, that's sure...

No FH and FH2 beats, and will beat DOD in my opinion, simply because DOD is small scale, small maps.. ect.

FH and DoD:Source are two completely different things in every way, how can you compare them?

Why is there no option for 'I like them both as much'? I would of chose that.

For you to be able to play DoD Sourcem you have to have the silver edition. I don't have that, and I don't intend to spend money on a mod. That is I think one of the main reasons for me not switching over to DoD.
