Anyone ever tried making a loose conversion of a DoD map? Some of them are very good cqb maps and it would be intersting to see how the same maps play out with bf equipment. Or for that matter a RTCW or ET map might work out too. The gameplay would of course probaly change somewhat but It would just be so intersting to see how beach or anzio would play out with a fh/42 engine.

bf1942 was not made for infantry battles. Stick with vehicles and everyone will have more fun.

Yes that why they made berlin and fh has foy and zelana gora etc.. . . The highlight of 42 can be considerd combinfed armed warfare but that does not and has not excluced more focused maps. You mines well say 42 wasn't made to be a flight simulatar or tank game too if your going to say that.

The netcode is too horrible to make many infantry-only maps. Hit detection suckiness is off the charts.

Never mind the tankers, they like to yell whenever a map doesn't have something for them to sit around in. ;)

Most DoD maps are too small to work well in BF1942, however. They'd probably work better in a game like Medal of Honor. Plus there's the obvious copyright issues that come with converting other games' maps.

some are small, some are pretty decently big for a infantry map. There's no copyright issues because there nothing there to be copyrighted. Were talking a converstion, not ripping textures and models etc. Doing a conversion of fan map would also not be an issue. Man what a bunch of limp dics around here. These maps are some the best ww2 infantry combat maps made do date, and trying to do a clone would at the least be interesting case of seeing how far the engine can be pushed.

Your damn right we do! VIVA LA TANKS!

But seriously, bf1942 was revolutionary because it allowed the seamless integration of infantry and vehicles into a single battlefield. Focusing solely on infantry or infantry-maps is putting bf1942 out of its element and it gets raw and sucky at times. Not to say there isnt good BF1942 infantry maps, but it shouldn't be a focus of the mod to make more. just my 2 cents.

Why with these lame-ass comments. Not only are infantry maps decently popular but some of these maps HAVE vehicles. Ever play the ET map with churchill avre? Well imagine the vehicle not sucking any more. Even just talking about the CQB maps- the point is cqb, not how great it would be if there was a submarine, a plane, and aircraft on all cqb maps. We all know that shite about combined warfare in 42, that wasnt the point. Because you know, nobody works on cqb maps *cough*. http://www.gamingforums.com/showthread.php?t=158147 Finally, wtf are you saying the 'mod should focus'.. im talking about a FAN made map. I didn't even mention 'fan', as why in hell would the devs grift of another games maps. Lets make reasonable assumptions here.

Thats it.

If you see blood and no damage wich is usual in BF1942, its that server sends hit to you, but it doesn't send hit to victim, so you see blood.

I think its better in BFV, but maybe we can see them in BF2 with FH, and BF2 = better textures in buildings so and better hitdetection and so on, its a good idea in BF2.
