I haven't played Wake Island since 0.67a and I remember people complaining how it sucked and while I was playing, I saw a Japanese Carrier coming toward the island and it was like flying all over the place... Pretty funny... Anyway, how's the Wake Island in .7?

Mr.MuFf

1. Push system 2. Less Japanese planes 3. One less Japanese kit 4. One more American kit 5. Make the beach impassable ground for trucks

I don't think Muff is whining--these are all pretty sensible, solid suggestions. I have no opinions about the kits (I really like the almost-all-rifle battles) but at least 1/2/5 make sense. Also I'd love to see a Jap cargo ship.

push sucks. Flanking is what makes war interesting. Why limit your attacks and force bottlenecks. It makes no sense and is not accurate to history. Just because they attacked that way in the war doesnt mean they didnt have 3 backup plans for the attack just in case. Or didnt have 4 other attacks on the drawing board. Keep push away! And for everyones, "Some noob bails and ruins the map!" Try defending all the flags! if you dont want some "noob" to flank you, Defend for it. The most important thing about this game is how fluid and everchanging your strategies can be. Your never bored because the same map can be played 500 different ways. you cannot do that in push. Plus alls u need to do to win push is have 3 guys hidden at flags 2-3-4 immediatly cap 1 and u have 4 whiole defenses are still at the front lines. It isnt realistic, or fun in my opinion. For a good analogy, Ask the commander who encircled the germans at stalingrad if attacking head on constantly is a good idea. lol but to get to wake. I think its afun map to gague your rifle skills on. its decent.

Yeah...if your an American..the Japs get a Type96, and they ALL use it, but the Pilots.

First, why you care about the japanese weapons?, I have seen allies win this map more times than axis, so those crappy rifles are doing its homework perfectly.

And second, I like push but {9thInf}QbanRev*E* is totally right, this map is not the right one to use push, the island is very narrow, a good and organizated team can advance supressing all the gaps to avoid the enemy caping a back flag.

No. The Type96 is overrated--hard to aim. It's still a lame MG spawn kit (DITCH MG SPAWN KITS AND BRING BACK SHOVELS) but it's not as easy as, say, MG34/42s on other maps. I don't think I've ever used anything but the sword/MP on this particular map. Last game I played on Wake, I think there was _1_ guy with a Type96 (and this was on a full server.) With the exception of one other guy playing officer, all the non-pilots were riflemen!

I wonder if Wake couldn't be "cured" by the addition of some interesting features or a building or two or some trees between the airfield and North-middle flag? As far as I can tell, that's always where the big fights end up being, both flags being too far away from each other for anything but the occasional truck.
