I support it. War is hell, deal with it. Its not like they can cap it. Or respawn in. Its the Special Ops aspect of WWII.. I do it too every once and a while, more guerilla then spawn camping though. Spawn killing only works for so long.
I find it interesting that most people don't realise the 'rule' about attacking uncaps was created by server admins on some servers. It was never a part of the original BF game. When its clearly not stated in the server rules, I find it annoying when I attack an uncap, and someone screams bloody murder. Of course I try not to over stay my welcome, Just like everyone else, I hate spawn campers. Sure, on the flipside, it can be frustrating when someone keeps sniping you as your patiently waiting in line for an aircraft. Why not try to find out where the guy is sniping from and take him out. Or maybe spawn somewhere else... If there are no more flaggs to spawn at, then thats probably a good sign your losing the fight and the game will be over soon. As much as I hate when someone capps me at an uncap, I hate it even more when the enemy whines about me attacking their uncap airstrip, as if there were some BF2 geneva convention rule about it. Like it was some imoral act or crime against humanity.
Lots of things aren't restricted in BF2, that doesn't make them fair or right. You shouldn't have to worry about being killed at your main base when there are other bases that need to be captured by the other team still up.
The only time I attack an uncap is in retaliation. Legal or not, it's fucking cheap to kill someone at their main base, and this goes for aircraft too.
I like to make "Commando" or "Assassin" squads and sneak a fireteam into a base, then assassinate the enemy commander, murder enemy Arty gunners, set some booby traps (S. Mines, AT mines) and sabotage some of the enemy equipment. After all that, we sneak away. It's great for stopping Arty rape (damn you pixel shooters!) and gives the rest of your team a little breather and time to regroup because the enemy equipment is unusable.
Although, spawnraping is kinda gay. If I was on a commando mission and one of my squaddies started spawn raping, I'd kick him out of the squad and then execute him (which unfortunately I can't do in my home server, WOLF, because Tag-Holding members are supposed to conduct themselves properly on the server to set an example). I always make it a point to hunt down enemy spawnrapers as well.
EDIT: I would only agree to anti-basecamping code on certain maps where you have nothing to do in an enemy base other than spawnrape (Sfakia, some 32 player maps, all 16 player maps, and maybe Hyacinth).
Hrm difficult one.., i sort of agree with ionizer on this one but it doesnt always seem to work out that way. For some reason whenever ppl enter mainbase to do sabotage missions it seems that once their mission is done they are taken over by some strange force which tells them its ok to spawnrape .., "might as well since im here already" type of thing.
Mind u the other day i had a funny sessionon Sidi where i snuk into the brits main to take out their arty guner to find no-one was manning the guns and all was quiet.., not even a commander. So i preceeded to hop on the 25pounder and kill the brit side with their own arty :D. Everyone was so confused that a jerry was killing with a 25 pounder on this map especially, they were like.., wtf is happening.., i said in all chat " i dunno must be a bug or something" .., they bought it and i sat on their arty till the end of the round and no-one sussed me out.#, much fun.
I do enjoy a good teabagging/bayonetting dead bodies session followed with lots of unessecary taunting in all chat once ive killed the mainbase spawn rapers though :D
Dunno why but it seems to me that main base "sabotage" guys just get their ass kicket at the real battlefield and come at uncap for easy kills. Justyfy all you want but it's still cheap and, shall I say, "pro"(?).
FH2 is a diferent game, the locking of enemy armour had a huge impact to avoid the kind of basecamping issues generally hated in the old battlefield games, including FH1. Now you can't simply raid the enemy base with a jeep or parachute, and hop into the best enemy tank and spawnrape non stop.
The main bases have also nice defences so it's not so easy to attack them with your tank. Add the widely spreaded spawns, always inside bunkers or buildings and a potential basecamping is just a minor anoyance, stop whining and kill the ofender.
Spawncampers don't usually last very long. They're a minor annoyance, really. Certainly not like in the old days.
In general, however, I think it's bad form to repeatedly kill people the second they enter the game. That, however, is often a flaw of map design (IE: sticking EVERYONE who spawns at a position in one spawn point rather than spreadign them around the area).
I've gone into or near uncaps but never actually spawn killed doing it in this game.
I usually go in and spot vehicles leaving the base. I do plan on going in for some spec op style commander killing though, Mainly to make them less of a sense of being "Untouchable".
