Yes, it would be beautiful if FinnWars, BG42, XWWII and FH joined together and made an excellent mod, but as McGibs said it wouldnt happen. (But luckily we get individuals from ditched mods, i think mainly of my countryman Malsa from op overlord;) )

If it meant a better mod, I can't see why anyone would oppose merging of mods. Currently there are 4 main WW2 mods I can think of: FH, BG42, XWW2 and Merciless's mod.

If they all merged taking the best elements from each, it would create the ultimate godly super realistic WW2 megamod :cool:

Why not call it "Experience the Merciless Forgotten 42nd Battlegroup's Hope" :D

I understand it would be nearly impossible and extremely unlikely for it to occur. But its wishful thinking for a huge majority of BF1942 players I'm sure.

I can see why the other mods wouldn't merge with FH, but I'm surprised Merciless ended up splitting. They seem to have very similar objectives to FH - they want realism, FH wants amazing skins and sounds... but it wasn't to be.

Perhaps when FH switched to BF:V or, better, BF2, as the first Second World War mod, they may be able to merge with those modders who really want to keep the ww2 theme alive. I don't see mods like BG42 really surviving on BF2, especially not as they're switching to Vietnam which will take up a lot of their time. But I think FH will, and when it does I think a lot of modders who don't like the 'ultra-modern' battlefield may join them.

yea that would be beautiful. after you know the conflicts between the VERY different goals of each mod are overcome, and they decided which models to use, and whose damage system to use... also that'd be a whole lot of modellers, many probably inferior to the others, so they would have to be gotten rid of. Same with skinners. Yes this sounds very easy and a very viable goal also :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

I think instead of merging, FH should swallow up FinnWars and make the Finnish maps part of its official maps. I'm sure the FinnWars makers would be proud to be part of the best WWII mod ever made (after DoD).

aaahhhh those developers...

they are soo proud... they will make their mods for 15 years, instead of merging and erasing vanilla from our computers... :(

i also think that FH need to persuade good teams to play FH, or do you plan to make a mod for public servers? if dignitas or mouz begin to play FH, other teams will switch to FH and more people will do the same

why cant you people just understand this? this isnt about pride or whatever, logistically, every mod merging into 1 would be a nightmare. Feel free to live in your cherry blossom world where we should all just forget our differences and work as a team and chase birds and having separate tank positions will lead to more teamwork. The fact is bg42 and xww2 have very different goals, the same with fh and the other ww2 related mods. Everytime this brilliant idea comes up, its always the same

XWW2 and FH are very different. XWW2 is trying to get super realism, but it isn't that fun, FH is semi realistic and very fun. They have different goals and there's no way those two mods could merge

Look at this way: -XWW2 is more realistic than FH, they'd have to sacarfice their realism to merge. -BG has their 1/3 rule, they'd have to sacarfice that to merge. - The fans of both the mods are a very different bread than these, with the XWW2 fans being hardcore realism fans and BG42 fans liking their arcade/historical mix. Those type of fans won't mesh well here at all.
