FH verifying client data? -1 reply

question is simple, will FH2 have it? since its unranked, im guessing not, but maybe punkbuster still requires it? all i know its the longest part of loading up BF2, and i always try to play on linux servers since its shorter on them, but sometimes not by much. it can get up to 4 or 5 minutes just to verify. im hoping FH2 does not, as i dont really mind if it invites cheaters, i just dont want to enter tobruk and see the italians already have won, which usually only takes about 4 or 5 minutes by experience :(

It's horter on linu server because they don't verufy client data at all. I agree that the verifying process can be annoying when it takes three of four times the loading time but I don't think this content check works at all with mods. Servers should have a 60 second start delay anyway.

I hope they will implent a system where ( as in BF2 ) your not able to capture any flags until atleast 10 or more players have joined. This way you are able to spend your time killing people, but will have to wait for the rest to join in before the actual map begins. I know this is already in use on ranked BF2 servers, but I hope this is going to be a general thing for all other FH2 servers as well.

For me it takes longer to start the game then to connect AND verify. Verification takes about 1 min +/- and sometimes less then 10 sec. Either the last patch or the Reality Mod I tried killed the verification times I had.

It's a server setting, players needed for a game to start, that can be used on both ranked, unranked and mod servers.

Get 2 gig of ram, and load/verify times aren't so bad for BF2. ;)

i do have 2 gigs, its my hard drive, i have a notebook with a 5400rpm 80gig, so it loads pretty slow. no amount of defrag will save it.

I noticed changing from med to high textures like tripled my loading time for BF2. If it's hanging around 60-70% for a while, right at the vertical line on the loading screen, that's the cause.

nah, i keep everything at medium, just a higher res than most as my monitor is 1920x1200, and i have a 256mb graphics card to handle it.
