I just want to know if anyone here uses anti-tank artys as mobile tank killers or only as static defenses?
It doesn't really look good when its moving since the player manning is not animated.
If no one here is actually using it as a mobile defence, can it just be limited to a static defensive unit?
People actually DO move them, like you would have seen on the servers.
I have seen many players (me included) move them. Even some bots in SP use them as poor man's tank. :D
i actually use them as tanks, the 6 pdr is deadly against any stuffs, including infantry...(not that hard to score a direct hit on him while you are protected by steel plates...)
I move 'em to wherever seems to fit the tactics involved, and where would be effective.
I use them as mobile guns, good for countering a surprise attack by the enemy if you can set them in place in time. Sometimes I use them as a 'tank', like on Supercharge where I pushed a PaK 38 (in this instance I was a brit) towards the main town outposts and took out infantry and any light tanks which tried to go along the northern road while we were attacking. Although I will admit they are painfully slow.
I like to mostly use mine as tank killers. Move it to a nice place, and just wait. For PaK38s, I sometimes like to use them as poor man's arty, trying to help an attack by lobbing HE at a flag.
