The thread name pretty much summarizes the topic of this thread. I'm just very very curious, seen as the mod looks so beautiful, is there any shock and awe planned in the features department. (If you just want to get straight to the question, just ignore the next paragraph, it's simply an idea of mine.) I've been reading this book called Blitzkrieg: In their own words. Which is a book consisting of a compilation of stories written by German soldiers in the beginning of the war in 1939 to the fall of France, and I thought it was interesting how often the tank crews, when they were in a relatively safe area would get out of the tank and inspect the tank and fix any damage. Where I'm getting at is, seen as the engineering class is slightly underplayed in BF2, and with more coding availability, what about making more specific vehicle damage and repairing? Like a bazooka round knocking the tracks off of a tank, and making it immovable but the turret can still turn and defend the tank. And a member of the crew that's an engineer can get out of the tank and instead of just aiming his spanner anywhere on the tank, he'd have to aim the spanner at the tracks of the tank. Or say the turret gets nailed by a shell or piat round, the tank's turret will be completely unable to spin or will spin slower than usual until it's repaired. Is this feature or any crazy new features available, and is it in your dev team's plans to get creative with programming, or are you simply going to make a modern shooter into a WW2 mod with minor improvements physics improvements from the original game(bf2).
Yea that, but it may cause lags, and imagine how much longer it will take to make all the seperate things on a tank destructible.
We'll just have to wait and see what is possible. Some things that were thought to be impossible to have in BF1942 can nowadays be found in various mods (e.g. the remotely operated bombers and transport planes in FH) and still more things get discovered every day. It will go the same way with BF2 most likely, when people get more experience with working with the editor tools, new features like for example the one you mentioned might become a reality.
how did you do this?? Join Date: September 26th, 2005 Posts: 0 Rep Power: 0
If you asking for Locational Damage your asking for some thing that would be be a lot of work, Imagine trying to make a good display for a tank. I however agree that a system like that would be cool, there are features I know work Range Finder. Yep you can have Range Finders in BF2. THis would mean later war get tanks would get such a thing :) Dymanic Lighting Major thing, Maybe some cool night fighting :( AIrbourne assault on Normandy anybody :) Etc.

Anyway the idea with tank damage is very good and it would be great to have it ingame (try it out in Soldiers: Heroes of Warld War II). As for the new features of Forgotten Hope 2: -class limit -new classes -some classes available only when a part of a squad -more realism -and maybe something more, but I can't recall

All of the above mention features are going to be very welcomed. :naughty: As for an above reply saying that it may take too many hits to kill a tank, it'd all depend on the type of round hitting it and where it'd hit. It'd give someone with an infantry fired AT gun the ability to just get a tank to sit still if they weren't able to take it out. It may not destroy the tank, but a still tank is a sitting duck and may force the crew to exit it, the feature would encourage accuracy in tanks and maybe make engineer a more played class so that tank crews wouldn't find themself in a vulnerable situation but one that'd be easy to escape with an engineer.
No, there are no new features in FH2.
yeah, we have a whole new engine, but there will be no new features in FH2.
jeez, you guys. this is like asking "will BF2 be any different then BF1942?"
It depends on how you understand "new features". For me the class limit is a new feature already.
