Trying to bail at anything but high level is near impossible, just as it should be. You have to slow down to a low speed and then your canopy will open, and then you can only bail once its fully open. Until then you're stuck inside. By then you have usually gone screaming into the ground, or been blown to bits, thus improving my score. :D There is definately no more insta-bail, thats for sure. Which is awesome imo

yea its a bit silly in bf42 that you teleport yourself outside the plane.. perhaps the cockpits would need doors like the C47 or so, at least then pilots wouldnt be able to instabail when they see the health of the plane reach 0 hitpoints..

Then again, I cant fly and probably never will, I dont understand how people can dogfight or shoot with MG on ground targets, its just impossible for me, and Ive played the game over 5 years... The ground is teh place to be=p

RussianComrade;4013157I'm pretty sure the Me262 didn't have an ejection seat, the only aircraft I know of made anytime during WWII with a functioning ejector seat was the Dornier Do335, and even then the seat was so powerful the G-forces posed just as much of a danger to the pilot as staying in the plane :uhm:

I'm actually nigh-certain the 262 had an ejection seat, or atleast the later models. Why? Because you -couldn't- bail out of that thing. You risked getting hit by the tail, and at those speeds, it would kill you almost instantly.

the ME 262 and the 163 both had ejection seats, but both were very risky to bail from. But since they were basically shot out of the cabin with pressurized air, usually they would be a good distance above the falling aircraft to not be hit by the tail.

IIRC I've read an American pilot's account of watching a 262 pilot, in an attempt to bail out, hit the 262's tail very badly. But that's just a hazy recollection.
