I was wondering what the mapsizes the devs are considering making for FH2? How it is affected by viewdistances etc? Would a map like "Bombing of the Reich" be the same size or what?

i believe they've said that the map size is around 4km x 4km, which is something like midway. BF42 does not handle land maps that size (only 1/4 can be textured, or else it gets all funny). A bit on thin ice here, but i think Bombing the Reich is 2x2.

well if we can now do "all land" maps the full 4096x4096 (midway size) with textures covering the whole map, that will be a huge gain in play area...HUGE!

If bf2 can handle 4x4 land maps that would be cool, but.. i guess we dont know till some-one tries.

There have been some maps made on the big size (4096x4096) but people complained the maps were too big. It also tends to feel really empty even with 64 players.

Well lets hope they left in the 100+ feature that they took out of Vanilla. Last i heard they left it at 64 players because they found for them more was less fun, *NOT* because of lag or anything. Perhaps if it can do 4x4K land maps, it can do 8x8 sea maps!??!

Sometimes i wonder how those Dice guys think.. i believe they exist outside our reality, and that thats the reason we dont ever understand such decisions to cut the player count down to 64, and the bunnyhopping thing.

Like Anlushac said, 4x4km land maps are too big to achieve the same level of intensity as the standard-sized maps. This would be true for even 100 player servers. Think of it, it's 4 El Alamiens!
