Ok, don't hate me for bumping this but I was reading this before I registered and I felt like I needed to reply... or I just wanted to. We can't really compare Battlefield 2 to Forgotten Hope 2 because, as its been said before, Forgotten Hope 2 hasn't even had its release date announced yet. But, going off of what we know, coupled with what Forgotten Hope did for Battlefield 1942 and the purpose of this forum we should all be able to agree that the generally conscenious(sp?) is that Forgotten Hope 2 will be "better" than Battlefield 2. To answer the question of what stock games don't need to be modded for realism, my answer is there's no such thing. Just about every game I play I look for mods that add realism. Here's a list... 1. Silent Hunter III- I have numerous mods that I switch back and forth from included Real U-Boat, the new Grey Wolves super-mod, and NYGM. Stock Silent Hunter III is far from realistic even when played on 100%. There's no canals (Kiel, Panama, Scapa Flow), damage models, Depth Charge count, crush depths, etc. 2. Call of Duty 2- This one is a biggy for me. I play in a realism unit (the Third Infantry Division, we've been around since Febuary 2nd, 2001 when Day of Defeat was first released. Not to brag but we've been credited with starting the realism community in DoD and carrying it to CoD and even RO has realism units that are somehow tied to the 3rd ID). We have gone through countless realism mods, which even then don't make the game anywhere close. 3. Red Orchestra- This is a very good game when it come to realism. There's always room for improvement however, but I haven't seen anything made for this yet since it's a new release still. 4. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion- Even those this is a fantasy game I still have a mod that changes bow and arrow physics, draw strengths, and speeds. 5. Battlefield 1942- Forgotten Hope, enough said. I think FH probadly pushed this game as close to "realistic" as the engine would allow. 6. Battlefield 2- Like all of you I'm anxiously awaiting for this. However, I still play the stock (with patches of course) everyday. I love the game for what it is. There's a lot of things that I think are wrong with it, but that why I'm excited about FH2. I hope that maybe a mod will be released that keeps the modern warfare theme but ups the realism. When it comes down to it Jimmy's opinion will be different than Timmy's. It's just the way it is. The FH devlopment team has pleased me thus far and I trust them to continue to find a happy medium between realism and "playablity", that is making it so that those who are still into arcade style's of play or are a bit turned off by realism still enjoy the game. Battlefield 2's engine is beautiful, Forgotten Hope 2 seems to be taking full advantage of it and even seems to be a step a head of EA and DICE with announcing or tossing around ideas and features that are only rumoured or hinted at with their rushed Battlefield 2142 gimmic. Which I might add will be terrible. I see it being Battlefield 2 set farther in the future with features that could be attained with a mod (which I already stated) or patch/expansion. But with two expansion's already out it's obvious EA's plans include milking its customers for all their worth... nothing new of course, this was the company that bought the right to team logos names, and rosters from the NFL to corner the market.

Quit the spamming guys. If you want to talk casually go to the FH IRC channel, #fhmod at gamesurge.net.

That makes no sense at all. If you actually paid attention to history like you're trying to pass off you're doing ALL wars are unnecessary in one way or another and you can't compare one war the countless others that have happened since then, especially when you lump them all together and generalize. In addition, I don't think a video game which protrays all hell breaking loose in modern day politics and current events is a moral booster for the U.S. president. But, back on track... Comparing these two games are in effect pointless and stupid. Just think of it this way, Battlefield 2 is the platform on which we Forgotten Hope lovers will recieve our new World War II themed game. So stop "hating" Battlefield 2, it's part of an equation that'll result in a game we love.
