actually i made this map, but lobo set up the push sytem flags, and did the lightmaps for me. I didnt have my new computer then, and couldnt do it myself, due to limited HD space. im glad you like it, thx :)
My apologies Real-Badseed, i just assumed Lobo had made it since he made a post about it.
Anyways, just wanna say keep up the good work. For me, the more the maps are historically accurate, the more i seem to like them.
Yes it really has changed since 0.65. Very good work seed. :nodding:
OK I've got one
the rates of fire for hand weapons are hilarious. Examples are the M1 Carbine and the P38. Find me an infantryman who can pull the trigger that fast, much less one who can even hit something.
I just noticed this because I usually try to watch my ammo and aim, but pistols or semi-auto rifles seem like they've become the new SMGs.
I don't know if this is new with 0.7 or whether I just never realized it before, but I would strongly put this forward as a candidate for "fix" in a patch.
Fuzz, we fought the ROF battle. IMO the ROF are FAR more realistic now than previously. Now, does current "reticule-displacement" accurately reflect a P-38 or M-1 carbine fired as fast as possible? It's actually prety close, maybe a touch generous to the shooter, but not outrageous.
It does bother me that the P38 was beating the Sten Mk.2 at medium range on Gold Beach yesterday. It did it pretty consistently, and I experienced from both sides, Axis using it and Allies taking it in the face.

Well, I actually decided to put my money where my mouth is and just got back from the range. They didn't have any Garands, but I had a go with my trusty 1911 (total stock, ca. 5lbs trigger pull) and a P38 they had around ("that 9 piece of sh**" as the rangemaster called it, dunno why, I rather liked it, although it's a bit light.)
The ROF on my hair-trigger Glock .45 _approached_ what I see with the P38 in the game. Not even close though--and this was under range conditions. The P38, well, yes, it's fast, but even in weaver stance at 10m I couldn't hit jack when pulling the trigger as fast as I could (n.b. I'm a miserable shot, but not _that_ bad--I can group a .45 magazine at 25m reasonably well with my 1911.) And this is under range conditions--while running around a block getting shot at, PAMPAMPAMPAMPAM no way.
I'll admit the P38 is fast, and IRL approaches the speed at which you can fire it in FH, but this assumes a REALLY twitchy shooter, once again under range conditions.
The M1911 .45 (1945 Remington military) didn't even come close. As for accuracy, fuhgedaboudit. No chance, even at 10m. Recovering from the recoil on that thing is a bitch even for a good shot for someone taking their time to aim. My SIG p220 and a .40cal (forget the make) a colleague loaned me also only come close, and these are modern precision weapons.
I haven't had a go with a semi-auto carbine (my last semi-auto was an AR-15, same thing, not even close to what you get on the G43/M1 Carbine, and we were *really trying*) so I asked a guy firing a semi-auto H&K MP5 (Swiss version with their police caliber and a slightly modified loader) and same deal--fast, but not even close.
I would estimate that 3-4 rounds per second (okayy 5 but that's REALLY generous and optimistic) would be pushing it. As it is, I stand by my assertion that the combination of ROF and accuracy is way too high. And before you put me straight, I've read your list of everything you've fired. No, I'm nowhere near that, but I think you'll agree that I can speak from a reasonable amount of personal experience making this statement! :-)
   I played Omaha yesterday as Axis and sat in the bunker with a Luger.   I think that it can fire faster than the Thompson. As long as I didn't run out of bullets no one came up the stairs. :bows:
What I thought that was awesome was the Sahariana window. It may look stupid, but is very complex.Try shooting at that square on that window... The bullet will cross that!!!!! Its not a simple draw that hides a solid thing. Its really there!!!!

Its a whole new map if i'm not mistaken (the old saipan is still there as well).
