I've been working on a small mostly infantry map for about a week now, so I think it's time to get some constructive criticism. It's located in "there somewhere", perhaps northern France or Benelux countries in around August-September 1944. I'm not a hardcore realism, or more like authentism fan, so please don't start flaming like "lmao, that tree wasn't there in August, they cut in down already in June, ffs". There are no custom models, skins or textures because, frankly, I don't know sh*t about making any of them. My main motivation in making this map was that I (and many of my Sisu clanmates, I think) really like small infantry maps, such as Zielona Gora or Berlin. Unfortunately, there aren't that many of them. There will be an uncappable American base and either 3 or 4 cappable flags, depending on whether the Germans will have a base or not. Haven't really made my mind up on that one yet. The map is quite narrow, so it won't be that easy to sneak in to one of the back flags. I was thinking that the story would be something like that the americans have advanced to the south of a small town and there is a crossroad (1 flag) between them and the german occupied town. They have to secure the crossroad so that they can bring in the armor to help them in taking the town. North of the crossroad is the town (2 flags) and northwest of the town a church on a hill (1 flag). The germans won't probably have any armor at first but might get some if they lose the town. Btw, name suggestions are more then welcome. Well, here are the screens :bows:
That actually looks very good. The whole "village on a hill" idea is great, would make for good defensive positions for the Germans. Great start.

Hmm that looks quite good, can you show s the minimap? that way we can judge the overal layout a bit better. How many tickets are there? Which classes/vehicles are available on the map? It would be nice to see different textures on the buildings, the shape of the terrain looks well though (no totally flat grounds).
If you wish to customize your map just follow the tutorials/FAQ's in the stickied FAQ thread located in the mapping forum.
Thanks for the comments. Here's the minimap, although it's quite big and I don't know if it helps much. The flags will be at those black dots. As you can see, the 3 northern flags are quite close to each and we'll see after more testing if that is a problem. I'm not quite sure about the tickets and whether the americans will be ticket bleeding before capturing one of the town flags. The americans will probably have thompson, garand, bazooka, tankcommander and engineerm1carbine. However, these might change after I have decided what vehicles to add. The germans will probably have mp40, k98, panzerfaust30, mg34, engineerk98. These will be adjusted so that the game will be at least to some extent... i'm sorry to say this ... really, really sorry... balanced. :uhm: There will be no vehicles (at least no tanks) in the beginning but when/if the americans take the southern flag, 1-2 tanks will spawn in their base. And I was thinking that if the americans take the northern town flag, the germans will get a tank (don't know which one). As you see,I haven't really made my mind yet about a lot of thinks, so suggestions are welcome. I have used that FAQ a lot already, it's been very helpful. Thanks for that.
Wow, it does look great, good job so far! What kits are you going to use?

Ah you might wish to (have to) remove the unneccary out of bouns parts on the minimap by setting the active combat area in the init.con Never done it myself so i don't know exactly how it works. Either look at the other maps with a small minimap (kaerlia, arnhem etc.) or find a tuorial/FAQ on it using google.

Atmosphere looks very good, but vanilla buildings just doesn't look that good.
How about calling it St Marie Englais, after the fight for that small town in France?
I like it. Don't know why, but I saw the screens and thought: cool map.
I would not call it St Marie Englais as that town has alot of publicity and has a large church and maps of it have been posted here. I would just look at a map of the Surrounding area of St Marie Englais and find a small remote village and name it after that.
