I used to be able to hear footsteps in FH, i.e. soldiers coming up the stairs. Was that removed in .7? I have the exact same settings in my sound settings and the same card.

Nope, have had the same Sony MDR-V6000 headphones for a long time now. Is that to say you can hear enemy footsteps ingame?

Does the sound/texture pack make a difference? I've just realised (thanks Buka) I have the same problem...

Well I know you can hear them if you turn your sound up high enough. This adds a lot to realism, makes the tank engines loud enough to hear a block away (like IRL) and gunshots are deafening like they should be. Plus you can hear a lot of new ambient sounds you didn't hear before. Just don't do it when other people are sleeping or likely to get mad at you...

That's all lovely for people like you... who live in concrete bunkers lol. Just joking. I rarely play with sound at maximum. One shot from a 150 mm Howitzer and the neighbours start kicking the door in with pitchforks and torches. ;_; Another thing, I also lose sound from time to time in FH. Usualy I get it back by switching through 3rd person and 1st person views.

http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/view.asp?idx=134&code=023 I use this 5.1 surround sound headset. It doesn't emulate surround but has actual 5.1 speakers built-in. Also keeps your ears warm in the winter :) Crank up the sound and start enjoying FH even more.

I got the texture/sound pack installed and on at all times and I can hear footsteps no problem as I have always heard.

Oh hell yeah... another gear head... :bows: I was looking for those, wound up going with medusa instead. IIRC I couldnt find it retail? dunno it was awhile ago. But the weird thing is that I can hear the footsteps in different sides. Left foot/left ear... It took a little getting used to, as things didnt sound as great as my old trusty Denons... but it wasnt about quality as much as it was about directional distinction. I believe they were banned in some competions. http://www.medusa-usa.com/
