Ive played Battlefield 2 ever since the day it came out, however the last months im sick and tired of it, all the bugs, and the gameplay as a whole. Now i mostly play Operation Peacekeeper instead, wonderfull mod, has a real Feeling to it, among things important there is that the nametag is not visible unless you see them with your very own eyes it seems. So Sniping is awsome.. But enough about OPK :)

Yesterday my cousin, whom i play OPK and BF2 with, was feeling strong urges to play Forgotten Hope again, so he did, and was stuck on the game for several hours. Phoned me and told how exciting it was, it beat the crap of anything that the BF2 engine had thus far. Went over his house, tried it (have 0,5k connection so i cant download the mod and play it untill 4 days or so, so we will get it on CD). And i can fully agree, even though the BF2 engine and OPK mod, in my humble opinion, is fairly equal :) Now, to the subject of this thread. I am as said a huge fan of Forgotten Hope 1, and what attracts me the absolute most is the feeling of it all, the slow-pased warfare, you put yourself behind a small busch at Omaha Beach with your mauser, and wait,a nd then fire, one shot, one kill. Or you fight in Berlin, positioning yourself, and waits with your weapons. Or you just charge. But the feeling of "One second later and i might be dead" is there, which it is not in BF2, there you just run around, and get all frenzied shooting everywhere, being all arrogant for you know that with your weapon it is difficult for any opposition to kill you. (Ok, a bit arrogant here, but you get the picture) while in FH i was almost always at the top 5, got nice KD ratio. But even the newest player could easily kill me, without knowing it.. The only thing that frustrated me was that there seemed to be no diffirence between tank armour. A Small sherman could easily take out a King tiger and such things. So the question is, in FH2, do you take a diffierent approach, due to the new nature of the game engine, i have heard somewhere that you strive to make it a bit more "arcady". And i just want to know if this is more of a sequal to FH 1, then a new FH. Thanx for reading my long post :)

from what the devs have told us so far, FH2 will remain faithful to FH1. you could see it kinda like a "port" of the FH1 to the BF2 engine, but they promise us better everything. better gameplay, better graphics, more gameplay options, pretty much everything you loved in FH1 but better. they arnt going to make it arcadey perse. its going to be as realistic as possible but some parts will be a bit unrealistic, just to keep the game fun

Yes, realistic but still fun.

Sounds good then, it just seemed most mods wanted to go all arcady :) Atm the only mods i follow with Interest is OPK, Point of Existence, Forgotten Hope, Bf1918 and Battlegroup :) Those are the ones whom are interesting to my mind, but at the top is Forgotten Hope :)

MikaelXIIThe only thing that frustrated me was that there seemed to be no diffirence between tank armour. A Small sherman could easily take out a King tiger and such things.

That's not true. A 75mm shell of a sherman doesn't hurt a KT's front armour at all. The tank armour is pretty balanced, I think.

buhh???

Youre either a very bad KT tanker, or a very good sherman tanker (or fighting a very bad kt tanker, or a very good sherman tanker). Pretty much any tank can take out pretty much any other tank in one or two shots, they just have to hit the right spot. Getting those spots into your crosshairs is another matter entirely.

I wont be able to play FH anyway :( i do not have four days to download before i go on vacation. And the CD i got from friend only had 0,67a version. Damn, damn damn !.. Ah well, i just have to wait for next summer and/or FH for bf2 :)

And no, i excell in tank killing. But get rather frustrated when i as sherman can kill big King Tigers by one shot in front armour (especially occurs to me when standing on top of the hill in Market Garden firing down on the tanks).

The top armor of tanks is usualy very weak. If you hit them at the top, you most probably kill any tank in a few shots. As far as I know Market garden has no Kingtiger? And also mind that there are many versions of the sherman tank with bigger guns. Just some possible explenations. ;)

Are you sure you weren't inside a firefly?, it's hard for me to believe you can take down a King Tiger with one front shot of a Sherman, and if I recall correctly, there aren't suppose to be any King Tigers at Market Garden?

Perhaps you mistook if for a Panther in the Distance?

FH's motto is realism up to were it negativly affects gameplay experience. So expect more realism in FH2.

Oh and about tanks, as Gibs said tanks are as realistic as they can get in FH1 (with engine limitations, a 100% perfect tank sim can not be done on this engine.. :( ). Taking out heavy tanks isn't impossible for many tanks if you hit them in the right spot (rear, engine deck etc.).
