huhrlassi agree with you noni, i like to play games with high resolution and i often play the vanilla version of bf42 and then i try to play battlegroup 42 mod which includes a lot of weapons but it runs somewhat smoother due to the maps being a little less intricate than FH. FH is a great mod and the most experienced players, I may try to run the game in 16 bit and lower the resolution to see what happens, How long does a map take to load? Also, reduce the sound settings

No need to play it on 16 bit just reduce texture quality to 60% if you play vanilla with 100%. Or lower your graphics and effect details to medium the difference isn't that big and when you're playing online performance is more important than looks anyway. When I still had my crappy gf 4 440mx i used those settings. But I do have a gig of ram which makes all the difference.

I hate the loading times in FH...one thing is the 2 minutes loading times, another thing is the fact that my PC freezes when a server change maps? what gives? can anyone help me?

Dont tell him! Go get some Ram and throw it in the case while dad's at work. I'm sure he wouldn't mind his computer being faster and better for no reason.

AMD 1Ghz, 512 ram and loading a new map can sometimes take as long as 5min. That's why I try to play on servers with at least 2 rounds/map. I don't want to be loading new maps all day!

Yes, its mostly about RAM, i have 2gb ram (at 2-2-2-5, 225 fsb) and two 74gb raptors in RAID 0 and for me a vanilla map loads in maybe 5-6 sec, a FHmap takes roughly 20 secconds, so i am usually first in a map waiting for others or even on some slow servers i am waiting for the server itself ;) .

And yes, i am a FH-nut, bought all these stuff only for this mod...

Well, you should turn all non system programs off for starters, unless you want to invest some money for additional 1gb ram.

Lowering details, setting AA & AF off and turning off music decrease loading times too.
