I was reading someones post yesterday and they mentioned Red Orchestra. So I went and purchased UT2004 and downloaded RO 3.2 and tried it out. I had downloaded it back when it was on Unreal Tournement 2003 and didnt like it at all. But now they have armor! I am kind of conflicted as to weather I like it all that much yet. The tanks have some cool features like being able to open the drivers hatch and sticking your head out and being able to turn your head side to side. The inside view from the drivers position is awesome. now the part I dont think I like is that there are three positions for one tank. Drivers, Gunner (commander), and hull MG. I didnt like it to start. But then last night a very cool thing happened. I was in a PanzerIV with two guys. I was in the hull MG position. They both had mic headsets and I could hear them talking to each other and me as well. Talk about team work. We managed to kill 4 or 5 T34/85s and I killed a lot of infantry. It felt so real. But I think this will be a rare thing. RO in my opinion will never be like FH as I feel there fan base is mostly infantry loyal. But we will see. What do you guys that have played RO 3.2 think? Sorry for the long post.

I've played RO3.2, and the tanks are probably my favourite bit. The maps look nice too, but infantry combat I have never gotten used to. It's just more fun to play infantry on FH. I think if FH ever got to 3.2, we'd be seeing some pretty mingboggling things.

RO is pretty cool. I sincerely hope that in FH2, the devs make it so that there are always at least 2 positions in a tank: A driver, and the main gunner/commander. There could be a 3rd position for MG and extra positions for infantry to get on and sit. There is no reason why it should be possible for a tank to be fully operated by one person in FH2. It's unrealistic and goes against the teamplay values FH so stresses. The arguments for why the tank abilities shouldn't be separated in FH were because of: 1. Lack of motivation. Who wants to be someone else's driver? 2. Lack of communication. How are the driver and gunner going to coordinate their moves? In BF2, both problems are solved. For no1, drivers get points for gunners' kills. For no2, since BF2 offers VOIP (and a free headset if you preorder), drivers and gunners will be able to plan their moves. Now, the only argument left is 3. Driver and gunner should be kept together because I want to be able to unrealistically drive a tank normally crewed by 5 men all by myself because rambo tanks are the coolest not being able to do both is boring who cares if its unrealistic i want my rambo tank

*Imagines being a driver in Sherman, sees Tiger ahead* Me: ok, I'll try to flank the Tiger, don't shoot until you'll get a clear shot in the tracks Gunner: (insert something here in some european language)? *Gunner shoots immediately at the Tiger's frontal armour* *Tiger gunner sees the Sherman and.. that's it* ---- Something I just made up, have to admit I haven't played RO for one minute so I can't say how well does it work there. It may work for heavy tanks that don't need to gallop all the time trough the battlefield, or it may not work at all. It's just that sometimes someone hops in your tank for mg gunner and starts shootin giving away your position. Usually commands like "Hold your fire" and "Bail out" won't do a thing.

Ro infantry combat is great and tank combat is also great, but im guessing is the fh devs had an engine like that they could do as good if not better.

I think I tried RO for UT2K3, and I didnt love it, mostly cause I were only playing against bots which never moved! :p So, the current RO, is it realy good then? Can the maps be as massive as for BF?

I just came off from a game of RO handn't played it in a while. While the mod is very well made with good looking maps and great iron sights I just dont find it as fun as FH. I think the mod is a little overrated, loads of people say its a great mod but most of people that say things like that either dont play RO or havent played RO and are just judgeing it from screen shots and videos. I think when (if) the Fh devs start modding on the Bf2 engine then it could very well surpass RO in just about everything.
