Hey all, I noticed a lot of you having trouble with your framerate settings/load times. I had horrible experiences with both in the older versions (16-18 FPS average, 3-5 minute loading times), but in .65, i have seemed to be able to avoid them. I did this by decreasing my sound settings (DONT WORRY, YOU WONT EVEN NOTICE). A large portion of the FH mod is taken up by sound files, they play a large role in the mod, and thus require much of your computing power. These are the settings I use, and with them, I get a fluid framerate 90% of the time (130th Server), and about a minute loading time per map. 22Khz Medium Quality 24 Channels ---------------------- My specs are: 3.2 P4 NVIDIA FX5200 (128mb) graphics card (WHICH IS HORRIBLE) 512 MB DDRAM SB Audigy sound card ---------------------- Decrease your sound settings, IT WILL HELP YOU IMMENSELY!

Good post. Thanks Mac. Also, some people (such as me) have their sound acceleration turned off, which drops fps by an incredible amount. That said, even with the lowered sound settings / hardware acceleration, I get 10-20 less FPS than I did in FH .6. Oh well.

It's not true that you don't notice, but I guess it's up to yourself if soundquality or graphics quality is more important...24 channels means way less simultaneous sounds..

I dont notice a difference, but I run off a headset/mic combo, not 5.1 Surround Sound. Being said, i would rather have a better chance at shooting a target than being able to hear it in all its accoustic glory. :)

22hz and medium is a good setting for a balance of quality and performance. I'd really really stay away from the "low" setting though. I remember trying them once in vanilla BF1942, the quality was so awful I couldn't stand it.

You may want to stick with 32 sound channels though, or else you'll keep missing sounds (especially machinegun sounds)

Try to avoid low setting, you only get to hear about 10-20% of the things happening, can really get you killed . In med settings you still get to hear most stuff.

Yeah, i keep it to medium and 24 channels, and I only seemed to miss grenade sounds...

I put it back to 32, no noticeable performance difference.
