What is the function of Schurzen in FH ?
Is that only a graphical correct representation of some German combat vehicles equipped with them in that period in the war ?
Or are they planned to actually function ? ( protect against shaped charge weapons = mostly infantry AT weapons ) I think they should.....
This Panzer IV with considerable air spacing between the plates and the actual armour should make the tank sideways quite safe from shaped charge weapons fired at it from the sides of the tank ( and back of the turret )
But it actually doesn't protect the tank at all.......
Are there any plans to code this correct ? I heard tanks with sandbag cover are already in the making aswell..
I think I read once that you can't code them as seperate armor plates protecting against shape charges it just functions as a couple of extra mm of armor.
EglaerinionI think I read once that you can't code them as seperate armor plates protecting against shape charges it just functions as a couple of extra mm of armor.
Shurzen are not a couple of mm more armour......a shaped charge, once set off has only limited amount of distance it can cut through....
Shurzen are based on setting the charge off, and then burn up cutting through air ( between the plate and the actual armour )
You can code diffrent sides of a tank to react diffrent to a type weapon. A rear shot has a diffrent effect then a frontal shot.
So you can make the sides of a tank with Schurzen immune to shaped charge weapons....if need be give it 400 mm of armour in the coding.....as long as shaped charge weapons do not harm the tank, in the sides where the Schurzen are protecting it.
I think it is very possible to code it......and it doesn't make infantry AT useless, they can still shoot it in the back ( hull ) or frontally. The tank is just a little better protected against infantry.....it could use that.....
Yeah. I don't see why would it be impossible. Just like MG bullets that do damage against top armor but none on the side for example.
I know but I was talking about how they function ingame, they can make the top, back or side have different armor thickness but they can't simulate the thing shurzen or sandbags were primarily used for (protection from shaped charges). And I think if you make the side armor 400 mm thick than that value goes for all projectiles shot at it so you won't be able to penetrate the sides even with a powerfull AP round.
Shurzen will work in the next patch, Hartman stated that in another thread they just didn't have time for .67a The sandbags on the Sherman will work too.
We can, and we will in hte next big version. I prepared the code for this befor 067 release, but we had no time to implement it.
 At last some protection agianst the hordes of bazookamen...
Great news! Since my computer sucks, and I always get the Panzer IV Ausf. H, I especially appretiate this news.
Now, will we see more Schurzen in the future? Various StuG models, Jagdpanthers, Jagdpanzer IVs, Panzer IIIs, etc... were modified with shurzen or a chickenwire like net to detonate HEAT rounds.
*me hugs Hartmann*
I love you.
can we have Schurzen on the tractors too please? i am sick to death of being bazooka'ed when i am ploughing into battle!
