i'd like to see more navy maps anyway - there's only rheinübung where the big ships meet (except midway)

The days of naval maps may be going the way of the dodo - extinct - unless our intelligent, imaginative devs can solve the lack of manned naval vessels due to the BF2 engine. If any one can solve this issue, they can.

I have to say this but I hate naval maps. The only reason I marginally enjoy Pacific maps is due to the land and air based aspects of it. I try to stear clear of Rheinübung whenever I can, and the only time you'll find me spawning on a destroyer is if I have no choice or I accidently mistake the spawn for a carrier.

I just dont think there's much interest in naval combat. It's boring, lacks detail, and there's no imagination what so ever.

The interest is in land and air combat. I dont think BF1942 or BF2 can effectively represent naval combat because of scale limitations. Lets face it, driving an undetailed, highly unrealistic ship around a plain blue background just doesnt mark up to an intense tank and infantry battle of the Ostfront.

NCOL, I can understand your view point and it probably reflects the reality of what naval service really was to an extent - long periods of boredom interspersed with intense action. Midway is my favorite map because you do finally get some real naval action. It may take a while but there nothing like seeing a carrier or BB hit Davy Jone's Locker. Destroyers and subs are my favorites, especailly if you get a crew on the DD. On Wake, there is some element of strategy using placement of troops as well as supporting the landings. Iwo is cool but the way the Allied DD rapes the land, err, hurts sometimes. I not very fond of the German naval battle either, though.

i think the devs should keep the naval combat in FH2 in the small scale. meaning keeping the big ships out, like battleships and carriers, (carriers still need to be in, but should be an unmovable destoyable object.) but i would still very much like to se smaller ships like destroyers attack-boats u-boats etc etc.. there are just much more action in the smaller ships..

My main interest in the Kriegsmarine would be to engage the Bismarck or to drop a few Tallboys in the Tirpitz in objective mode maps.

I agree with the others. There are some fun naval battle moments, although I rarely play the Pacific maps - or the Allies in general...I do enjoy taking down aircraft with a liberty ship. Takes pateince but it IS worth it. I say keep the big ships in. Just mix it up with land battle and you keep everyone happy.

I thought Rheinübung was pretty fun. Playing infantry/tank 24/7 and going to ship is a nice change. Especially when you get two destroyed next to each other doing the pirate ship thing. Where they go both next to each other and all guns are going off. I thought that was pretty neat considering both ships hardly got hurt.

I like the naval parts of FH, they create a new dimension to gaming. Also they can serve as mobile artillery, which has no equivalent now in FH. That scale artillery is something which I will miss, in case it wont be in BF2.
