Hi dudes: 1st of all, I know there're a lot of threads about the FH website, but most of them are like "when will it be updated?" and that kind of questions. I think is better to give some ideas. It's a easy way to help, so let's go!! I've been working with information services many years, and i think the objetives of FH website have to be:
- Give quick, accesible & useful info for new visitors
- Give info about updates, etc. for FH users
I'll not write about use PHP, databases or architecture of a website. I think we have to give some ideas about the use of FH website, and how improve its content and make it more useful. I'll begin with some ideas I've wrote in the 17th update: The "Info" section, which contains map, vehicles and other stuff included in FH is a bit outdated. But It isn't a problem, because we know you are working in it devs!! And we thanks you for it!! :bows: But I only want to pay some attention to this section, because this sections can give FH new players, and that's important. When we visit a new mod website, what we want?. We want to know about the main features of the mod and we want to know the stuff it contains. And we want it fast & easy! If we don't find interesting things we'll look for other mod to download It's nice to have a weapons section, a vehicles section and a maps section under the info section. They have to be there :D. But where is the section about the main features of FH? Well, if you look for it you'll find it under the "Menu" section, in "Info". I think that's a bit confusing. I think it'll be better if that information where under the "Info" section, in a link called "Features", "Introducing FH" or something similar. The information in that link is not bad, it describes the main features, number of vehicles used, etc. But its structure is not the best to catch the attention of the new visitor. Let's see an example: "...New gameplay elements include a pilot class, which is now the only class equipped with a parachute, these can be found as pickup kits near most aircraft. There are also kits that contain deployable heavy machine guns, which can be setup anywhere on the map to create defensive strongpoints. Tank combat is greatly enhanced by a specially designed armour code, which determines how much armour anti-tank shells can penetrate, making it advantageous to outflank tanks to attack their weak rear armour. There are also towed anti-tank and anti-aircraft guns, these can be driven to a hidden ambush point then deployed to surprise the enemy. The infantry class system has also been altered for more realistic and tactical gameplay, most maps will now allow you to choose from close quarters (an SMG armed soldier), assault (a rifleman who can use special rifle grenades), support (armed with a light machine gun), anti-tank (armed with an anti-tank weapon such as the bazooka) and officer (who can act as a spotter for artillery weapons and has an SMG). Sniper kits can now only be found spread around the maps, usually in special sniper hides. There are..." I think it would be easier to read if this info were more structurated. Something like this: "New gameplay elements include:
- About Classes
- Parachutes only in pilot class or special kits near aircrafts.
- Heavy machine gun kits, to create strongpoints anywhere in the map.
- Sniper class only available in sniper kits.
- bla bla bla
- Check the info section to get more info.
- About Armours
- Advanced armour code, which determines how much damage armour anti-tank shells can do in each part of the tank.
- Towed anti-tank & anti-aircraft guns.
- bla bla bla bla
- Check the vehicles section to get more info.
- bla bla bla"
Something similar... this is only and example, but I think a more structurated info is easier to read if you don't want to read a lot. Other thing... the map sections will be great if a couple of screenshots of the map were beside the map picture. The screenshot link is a good idea to avoid a page full of images, but I'm sure that a new visitor of FH website wants "instant info" about how fh maps looks, and a upper view of the map is not very descriptive, I think. Anyway, to have a screenshot at the left of the map pic and another in the right will be very useful for the new visitor, and it he/she likes the map and want to know more about it (screens & features) then click the link!! ;) But, what about rename this "Screenshot" link for a "Screens & features" link or something similar? Because that page contains more stuff, not only more screenshots!! A full list of all the stuff available in the mod (map, weapons, vehicles and features) will be great. I know: there's a FH manual, but I think a list will be more inmediate for the new visitor, and very impressive. I've seen some parcial lists in some threads here, but It'll be better to the new visitor to have a fast access to that info in the website. This list would have to be in the info section, and if visitor want more specific info about that vehicle or weapon then he/she have the vehicle and weapon sections!! A lot of interesting info about FH features is the news archive, and new peoples usually don't surf it... so, the info section have to include these info, including work in progress, I think. Well, I'm gonna stop, 'cause this post is enough big. :naughty: But there're a lot of things to do and will be great if we all give our ideas!! To be a webmaster it's a hard work, I know, and there are tons of work to do, but I'm sure we'll get more FH fans with the website improvement. And more fans means more servers & players. And as I said before in other threads, devs if you need help with the publishing of website content, a new structure of that content or anything I would be proud to help our loved mod to be greater!! Anyway, good work devs!! We thank your infinite effort!! :bows:

i think the must make a total make over! one that dont look like this .. use a new site tamplate... and new links ;) somthing like this:
- news - archives - staff - vehicles - weapons - maps - screenshots - downloads - links (it schouldt be cool if clans can give links t other sites) - forum
or somthing like that..
'[nlInvincible']i think the must make a total make over!
Well, a total make over may be is too much work for them, i think. Now they have tons of work to do. Redo the website would be very difficult, unless they "hire" more webmasters

Make them good looking yet simple. Very simple, easy to browse interface. Everything should be behind just one link, except maybe the archives, which should be sorted by the month as they are now.
And pay extra attention to up-to-date renders and screenshots, which should too be updated regularily. Almost all mods include some beta 1 screenshos of their mod on their webpage, and when they are by what people with determine whether to download your mod or not, they need to updated regularily and be up to date at all times.

Totally agree. Easy navigation is a must for ALL websites. And of course, if you want to increase the number of FH fans the content have to be updated. May be would be great to have the date of the screenshot or the number of the version which contains that stuff. Example: Elephant photo-> FH 0.66 or Dec 30th 2004
I follow teh Moo!

Excellent news indeed. Now, will we have to wait .6 to .65 long, or .65 to .66 long?
'[11PzG USMA2010']... Now, will we have to wait .6 to .65 long, or .65 to .66 long?
 The new website is in progress since we're waiting for 0.65 (you can read post about it checking the search function), but I'm sure it'll be great!! :naughty: Anyway, we're only doing sugestions. Doesn't matter if yoy use it in the actual website or in the new one :D

Well - let's say it quick:
HTML sites are quick to update anytime. But not as quick as a scripted page. PHP & MySQL sites are faster to update once the code is up and running. Last thing takes time and I'm on it for a couple of weeks now. It's almost done though.
Next info about the content. a.) It takes lots of time to get all the stuff together. A reason why the page isn't done yet b.) New gfx for some purposes takes some time. Another reason why the page isn't done yet c.) As you might have read I want information about custommaps, links (clans, minimods, tournaments, newspages, tutorials & modding tools). d.) Navigation will be simple enough I hope - although not everything reachable with one click. Menu would get a lil too large if I add a link for US air units, US naval vessels etc. e.) Be patient f.) A few features will be in it you will really appreciate
