quick question, Are there going to be gliders on some normandy maps were your airbourne landing behind enemy lines? (and possible operation market garden if you do that)

I'm going to make a guess here: Since of the map sizes I doubt there will be flyable gliders, but I think they will be placed as statics, and perhaps spawn points. Destroyable perhaps?

Retorical question. Obviously gliders will put in as statics. One famous example is Pegasus bridge =p

Another reason it's worth asking is because flyable gliders were in FH1, in that one Sector (something) map that was US vs Germany.

It doesn't change the fact that they were in the game, though. It matters little that it was a fictitious map. The point is, the devs figured it out and made it happen.

On the BF1942 engine. Maybe there are no other combat situation that can feature the huge Douglas and Waco glider together. Maps might be too small.

Gliders are a real biatch to implement into a map... We made a map in FHT called Operation Thursday, historical glider assault in Burma, it was nice, except that gliders are very easy to shoot down... Unless the player are able to control and fly the glider, its better to have them as static.... But I agree the teamplay part of our map, where one player needed to take off with the C47, towing the glider up in the air, and the other players could spawn in the glider, then detach it, another one flying the glider, landing it in a nice position, players spawning in it, enemy attacking the glider, etc etc.. it was nice, but for 1 week testing too complicated..... If FH2 puts a working glider in action, it will take time to finetune that feature... it can become silly or cause of abuse way too easy... Static is simple, safe.
